Information
We are the University of Minnesota -Twin Cities collegiate chapter of MENC: The National Association for Music Education. MENC is an organization which brings music educators together to enable them to improve music education in the United States. CMENC is the collegiate professional organization for music educators to help to prepare them for their future careers in music education.

Collegiate affiliation helps to better prepare future music educators by creating contacts with current music educators, and by providing a variety of resources.

The University of Minnesota School of Music offers bachelor of music degrees in general, instrumental, and vocal music education certification for grades
K-12.



CMENC COMMITTEES:

CLINICIAN COMMITTEE
Purpose: To secure clinicians for the monthly CMENC clinics (approx. 6 per year)
Chairperson Duties:
-Report activity of committee to the CMENC Executive Board
-Delegate and follow-up on duties given to committee members
-Solicit suggestions of topics and/or clinicians from the membership
-Plan a panel of clinicians for the year
-Provide information about clinics and clinicians to the publicity committee
-Contact clinicians
-Compose form letters of Invitation and Thanks intended for clinicians
-Send letters of Invitation and Thanks to each clinician
-Secure clinician payment from the treasurer and pay the clinicians

SOCIAL COMMITTEE
Purpose: To organize social events for our chapter
Chairperson Duties:
-Report activity of committee to the CMENC Executive Board
-Delegate and follow-up on duties given to committee members
-Plan all social gatherings for the chapter (parties, trips: concerts, dinner, etc)
-Provide information about social events to the publicity committee
-Host receptions for events when deemed necessary

PUBLICITY COMMITTEE
Purpose: To organize publications and announcements for our chapter
Chairperson Duties:
-Report activity of committee to the CMENC Executive Board
-Delegate and follow-up on duties given to committee members
-Design and periodically update the Ferguson bulletin board
-Work with Secretary to keep postings updated
-Get approval from Ferguson Hall before posting any information
-Receive and post announcements from other committees and members

FUNDRAISING COMMITTEE
Purpose: To raise funds for chapter operation
Chairperson Duties:
-Report activity of committee to the CMENC Executive Board
-Delegate and follow-up on duties given to committee members
-Consider a wide array of fundraising ideas
-Determine which ideas are most practical and profitable
-Determine the who, what, when, where and how details of the project
-Present the ideas to the rest of the chapter
-Communicate details and tasks to the volunteers for each project
-Collect money from projects and deliver the money to the treasurer]


CMENC INDIVIDUAL POSTS:

WEBMASTER
Duties:
-Develop a University of Minnesota Collegiate MENC website
-Include information about the University of MInnesota:
              -School of Music
              -CMENC Chapter activities
-Include links to:
              -MENC
              -Other Big Ten Universities
              -Other CMENC Chapters in Minnesota
              -Other CMENC Chapters throughout the country
              -Other sites to be determined at later date

HISTORIAN
Duties:
-Develop an accurate and complete chronicle of the chapter's activity for the year
-This could be accomplished by assembling the following:
             -A scrapbook of pictures of CMENC events
             -A notebook of meeting minutes
-Work closely with the treasurer in obtaining an inexpensive scrapbook
