Executive Board Meeting

I. Meeting adjourned by Lynn Marano at 7:05.

II. Details of Dr. Haack's party were discussed. It will occur on May 4th, as planned. The exact times and food assignments will be to come. A sign-up sheet will be soon available on the CMENC board. Please sign up by April 24 in order to let us plan for food and let Dr. Haack know the kind of load to expect.

III. Dates of next year's clinics were finalized along with prospective speakers on those dates:
September 25: The new choral music education professor
October 23: Scott Jones (Apple Valley High School) speaking about commissioning a work for you band
November 20: Last year's teacher-of-the-year speaking on general music techniques
February 5th: Kathy Romey with rehearsal techniques
March 5th: Douglas Orzolek with comprehensive musicianship
April 2nd: Wendy Barden on resume-building and interview tips
April 30th: Eugene Rousseau on the teaching-learning cycle at all levels

IV. We discussed forming an introductory letter to send to freshman over the summer to descrive CMENC, what we are about, finalized clinic topics and the pro's of joining. These would be mailed in August.

V. We plan to hold a back-to-school social event the first week of classes to introduce people to others in music education and in the MENC program.

VI. **We are looking for a travel chairperson for next year. This person would be in charge of planning lodging, transportation, and other details for the CMENC state convention in St. Cloud, MN the first week in October. They would laso need to long-range plan for the national convention in Nashville. Please email or talk to any executive board member if you or anyone you know is interested.
