*Ratzenberger did post a time which was good enough to qualify for the 1994 San Marino GP.
**Although both drivers qualified for the Monaco GP in 1995, neither car took the start for the team's final GP due to financial constraints.

The Simtek team, which stands for Simulated Technology, was founded in 1994 by Nick Wirth. For their first season, they signed Australian driver David Brabham along with Austrian, Roland Ratzenberger. The team underachieved and never managed to score higher than ninth. To make things worse, fate seemed to strike those who least deserved it. Ratzenberger died in a terrible accident in qualifying for the San Marino Grand Prix. Later in the season, his replacement , Andrea Montermini damaged another monocoque in an accident at Barcelona. The team continually changed drivers in 1994 due to their financial situation, signing Gounon after Barcelona, Schiattarella after Portugal and Taki Inoue for the final race in Japan.
The team retained the services of Schiattarella for 1995 and signed Verstappen from Benetton. Unfortunately, the car was even worse and the team did not even finish half of the season, leaving after the Monaco Grand Prix.
