Beginning of the adventure! Mizu, the waterflower
“Miss Kaori,” Mizu’s teacher said gently. 13-year-old Mizu Kaori lay asleep on her desk, her medium-length sea-green hair spread all over. “Miss Kaori?” Mizu slowly raised her head and blinked. She then yawned and stretched.
“Oh, did I fall asleep again?” she asked. “Sorry.” Mizu’s teacher shook his head at her and the whole class burst out laughing. Mizu blinked as she looked around at the kids laughing at her, then folded her arms and sat back in her seat.
“As I was saying…” Mizu’s teacher continued as he turned back to the board.

Mizu sighed happily as she walked out of the school. Mizu was a really good student, one of the best in her grade actually, but she absolutely hated school. It’s not that she couldn’t sit still, but she wasn’t popular at all and didn’t have a single friend, and it didn’t help that she sometimes had ‘incidents’ where she’d spray someone with water but didn’t know exactly where the water had come from. She had earned quite a few detentions, no thanks to a few people. Mizu was just thinking about this when she heard some voices.
“Oh, my god! Tenshi Shinzuino is doing a concert over in Tomoeda!” the one that Mizu knew was Nariko Hikarino squealed. “She is like the best singer, and she has the coolest hair, too!” Nariko took a lock of her waist-low platinum-blond hair. “Do you think my mom will let me die my hair like Tenshi’s?” Another girl that Mizu didn’t know stared at Nariko for a few seconds before shaking her head.
“I don’t think so, Nariko,” she answered. “Your bangs being pink, the rest of your hair being a darker pink with three fushia streaks at the top and light blue stars stuck all over your hair? Plus, you’d hafta cut it.” Nariko frowned before going back to the magazine that she and some other girls were huddled around. Nariko then looked up and straight over to Mizu who was staring at the crowd of girls.
“What are you staring at, freak?” she asked. Mizu felt a rush of anger fall over her, when a shadow came over the ground. Mizu looked down at the shadow, then at the person that was casting it. She turned her head to see Nariko’s eyes were starry.
“Chiyu!” she exclaimed dreamily. Chiyu had his arms folded.
“Sometimes I worry about your mental health, Nariko,” the golden-haired boy stated. “Calling Mizu a freak isn’t exactly the best thing to do, and I’m not trying to be moral.” Nariko hmphed.
“What do you care about her? Nobody likes her!” she said in a whining voice. Chiyu’s eyebrows raised.
“Nobody?” he asked. Nariko’s eyes went wide at this statement, for she knew what Chiyu meant. Chiyu turned to Mizu. “Why don’t I walk you home?” Mizu nodded, slightly dumbfounded at this.

Mizu walked along the sidewalk beside Chiyu, looking down at the ground and blushing as she clutched her backpack in her arms.
“You didn’t hafta defend me, ya know,” she said in a silent voice, almost unnoticeable. Chiyu scratched the back of his head as he nodded.
“I know I didn’t, and it didn’t earn me points with Nariko,” he answered. Mizu animé fell, twitching on the ground. “But that doesn’t really matter to me. After all, she’s not exactly the nicest person in the world.” Mizu got up off the ground.
“Brilliant deduction, Sherlock. How long did it take you to figure that one out?” she asked. Chiyu blinked, then smiled.
“I don’t know why no one likes you,” he voiced his opinion as they started walking again. “You’re a really interesting person.” Mizu blushed at this, and Chiyu smiled his charming, glowing smile, then looked up at the sky as a cherry blossom landed on his jacket, his eyebrows furrowed. “The cherry blossoms shouldn’t be falling off the trees this time of year.” Mizu looked up from the ground, a puzzled look on her face. All-of-a-sudden, a gigantic wind blew up, causing a stream of cherryblossoms to blow by. Mizu bent slightly and shielded her eyes. The wind stopped as soon as it had started, and Mizu looked back up, only to find Chiyu was gone. She sighed.
“I should’ve known it was too good to be true,” she muttered as she continued walking, her hands stuffed in her pockets. “He offers to walk me home, then he leaves me as soon as something weird happens; it was probably just a few fans and a sound-effects tape.”

A wind blew through the air, and it died down as a human materialized. Chiyu opened his eyes and walked forward.
“Tenshi, I think something’s wrong,” he told her. Tenshi Shinzuino turned around and faced Chiyu, nodding.
“Yes, I sensed it too, Chiyu,” she answered.
“What do you think it is?” he asked. Tenshi turned back around, putting her hands together over her heart.
“Chiyu, did you know that there’s more Element Kami’s than just us?” she asked. Chiyu raised his eyebrows and nodded.
“Yeah, I thought there might be, Tenshi,” he answered. “Are you saying that we might have another kami added to our team?” Tenshi nodded, her purple eyes literally glowing.
“Mizu Kaori,” she answered. “Waterflower.”

A loud splash sounded as Mizu dove into the swimming pool, and bubbles surrounded her body as she dove further and further underwater. Mizu was about to go back up for air when she saw something shining at the bottom of the pool.
“Hmm?” she asked, resulting in a stream of bubbles coming from her mouth. She jetted down farther and grabbed the thing that was shining, then immediately went back up, her face almost as blue as her eyes. As she broke over the surface, water splashing everywhere, she gasped for breath, almost forgetting the jewel in her hand. She started treading water as she stared at the small tear-shaped blue stone in her hand.
“What is this?” she asked herself, cocking her head slightly. While she was staring at the jewel, she didn’t notice the wind that started to blow up before it was too late. A slightly large wave came up from the water splashed over Mizu. When the water calmed back down, Mizu was gone.

A crowd of fans cheered and screamed, throwing their hands up in the air. Several spotlights turned on to reveal Tenshi wearing a white spaghetti-strapped top that was, too put it mildly, a little low in the collar area, purple leopard-print pants, and black shoes, and she was also wearing a headset. The music to her song was about to start, when a loud whine emitted from the microphone, causing several people to cover their ears. Tenshi blinked, then saw Chiyu in the back of the audience waving his arms frantically. She nodded, threw off the headset, and bolted off stage at top speed, much to the dismay of several of the fans, and to Tenshi’s manager, as well.
“What’s the matter Chiyu?” she asked slightly out of breath as soon as they were out of earshot. Chiyu got a nervous look on his face.
“Uh, well, you know that girl you told me to watch, to make sure that when she finally got her full power the Dark Ones wouldn’t get to her first?” he asked. Tenshi nodded reluctantly, not sure if she wanted to know what would come next.
“Uh, yeah,” she answered. “What about her?” Chiyu laughed nervously, scratching the back of his head.
“Well, it’s funny really, but when I was watching her while she was swimming, she kinda disappeared,” he answered, hoping that Tenshi wouldn’t explode at him, as she often did. Tenshi’s face slowly formed into a vengeful expression. Chiyu braced himself for another one of Tenshi’s lectures, but Tenshi simply took out a small, purple, circular shaped jewel.
“Well, then, Chiyu, I guess we should find her,” she answered calmly, holding the jewel to her heart. Chiyu sighed with relief and took out his own pale yellow jewel. They both started glowing, Chiyu yellow and Tenshi purple, and before they disappeared, Tenshi added, “And remind me to seriously hurt you once we find her.” They both disappeared but a loud groan could be heard.

Mizu glared at the shadowy figures surrounding her. Once she had gained consciousness, she had found herself in a, well, she wasn’t quite sure if she was in a room; it was too dark to tell, the only light coming from the jewel she had found at the bottom of the pool, which also seemed to be keeping the figures at bay. For some reason, she concentrated on the jewel and the light began to surround her like an aura, and she beginning to feel things, like the darkness surrounding her was evil, and it wanted her!
No way, José! Mizu thought. I’m going to stay good as far as I’m concerned. The figures started to mutter to each other, and Mizu blinked as one of the figures talked to her.
“Surrender yourself to the darkness,” it hissed. Mizu burst out laughing.
“I heard that in a movie I watched the other day,” she exclaimed. “Do you bad guys have like a list of evil-ish things to say?” The figure fell back, seeming confused even though no face could be seen. Mizu continued to laugh uncontrollably, and the aura burst out, lighting up the whole place. The figures cowered.
“The light! This one cannot be corrupted!” one exclaimed. “We must leave before the light destroys us.” With that, the figures just, ceased being there. Mizu wiped tears from her eyes. That had just been too funny. Once she had taken control of herself, two lights appeared, one yellow, and one purple. They soon materialized into Chiyu and Tenshi.
“We’re here ta…” Chiyu started, then looked around to see that nobody was there except Mizu, who was looking very dumbfounded at their sudden entrance. “never mind.” Mizu’s face turned from dumbfounded to angry. She stomped over to Chiyu, and punched him in the face.
“You said you’d walk me home, and then you just left! This probably never would‘ve happened if you had stayed with me!” she exclaimed. She was about to punch him again, when someone latched onto her fist. She turned her head to see Tenshi with a very stern expression on her face. Mizu sniffled. “Well, it’s true!” Tenshi’s face softened.
“Yes, that’s true,” she answered. “But you don’t need to beat up on Chiyu; it’s bad for his health.” Something in Mizu’s mind all-of-a-sudden clicked.
“You’re Tenshi Shinzuino!” she exclaimed. Tenshi nodded.
“Last time I checked,” the older girl answered. There was a moment of silence, then what Mizu did next surprised Chiyu, and even Mizu, very much. She threw her arms around Chiyu’s neck and buried her face into his chest as she burst into tears. Chiyu awkwardly put his hands on her shoulders, sending Tenshi a ‘help me’ look. Tenshi just shook her head. Though she was the only one who knew it for now, the Water Kami, and the Air Kami would become very close, and this was the first step. Chiyu nervously looked down at Mizu who’s sobs had quieted down to sniffing. He then realized she had fallen asleep from the strain, and caught her before she fell, a huge sweatdrop on his head. He then noticed Tenshi’s smile.
“You’re enjoying this way too much,” he accused. Tenshi grinned and nodded.
“Yes, yes I am,” she answered. “But if it bothers you that much, I could always take her.” Chiyu blinked and looked down at Mizu’s sleeping form, then shook his head.
“Nah, I’m fine,” he answered. It was all Tenshi could do to stop herself from bursting out in laughter. It was all happening just so perfectly.
“Come on, Chiyu,” Tenshi told him. “We need to take her back to my house and explain a few things.” Chiyu nodded, and the blue crystal that was now formed a chain on Mizu’s neck glowed in agreement. Chiyu held Mizu with one arm as he reached for his jewel, all the while subconsciously wondering why his never formed a chain. Chiyu finally located it, and the group soon disappeared in a flash of colors.

Mizu woke up with a groan. She soon realized that she was being held.
“`Bout time you woke up,” Chiyu’s voice greeted. “I was considering getting my arm amputated.” Mizu blinked, then let go of Chiyu’s arm as she stood up.
“Where…” Mizu started, but a voice interrupted her.
“You’re in mansion,” Tenshi told her, walking into the room. “And you, young lady, have caused us enough grief to last a while, or at least until next week.” Chiyu blinked.
“What’ll happen next week?” he asked. Tenshi grinned.
“You’ll find out,” she answered. Chiyu groaned. Tenshi made comments like that all the time. Being the Spirit and Shadow Kami gave her psychic abilities, like the ability to see future events. A high pitched ringing sounded from Chiyu’s pocket, and Chiyu sweat dropped. He knew who it was, and he regretted ever giving her his cell phone number.
“Hello Nariko,” he greeted as he opened it.
“Chiyu, you were supposed to meet me an hour ago!” Nariko whined on the other end, loud enough for Mizu and Tenshi to hear. Chiyu sweat dropped.
“I though I told you earlier that I couldn’t make it,” he answered. There was a pause of silence.
“Okay,” she answered. “Just where are you, anyway?”
“You wouldn’t believe me if I told you.”

“So, just who is this ‘Thunder child of light’?” Mizu asked. She sat beside Chiyu on one of the couches in Tenshi’s living room. Tenshi put down her steaming cup of tea.
“I believe her name is Nariko Hikarino,” she answered, looking towards the two. “Nariko: Thunder child, Hikarino: of light.” Chiyu let out a large groan, but Mizu just smiled.
“Well, that’s convenient,” she said, mimicking Tenshi’s way of sipping tea.

“Hey, Chiyu, just where are we going, anyway?” Nariko asked. Chiyu didn’t answer, but simply guided Nariko through the thunderstorm in the direction of Tenshi’s mansion. They walked in silence until Nariko squealed with joy.
“Hey, Chiyu, look what I found!” she exclaimed, holding up a golden lightning-bolt shaped jewel. “It just appeared out of nowhere; do you think it would look good on charm bracelet?” Chiyu animé fell at Nariko’s empty-head-ness.
***
“Just what are those things?” Nariko demanded as some Dark Ones started advancing on her, and Chiyu still was nowhere to be found. She started wailing when a jet of water hit her, causing her to be even more wet than she already was.
“Why don’t you cool down for once?” a voice asked. A lightning bolt flashed to reveal Mizu, Chiyu, and Tenshi, and Mizu was in the center with her arms folded.
“Chiyu!” Nariko squealed happily. Tenshi and Mizu animé fell, but Chiyu stood his ground. He simply looked down.
“Uh, are you okay, Mizu?” he asked.
