Darien pulled Serena against him, his lips never leaving hers.
One arm was around her waist, crushing her against him while
the other gently caressed her cheek.  Involuntarily, Serena's
hands slid up his back and entwined in his wet hair.  She felt
water dripping down his neck, and her clothes were becoming wet
from the Darien's rain soaked clothes.  It was the cool water
that made her come back to her senses.  

Serena wretched herself from his arms and slapped him across 
the face as hard as she could.  She ran from the room, tears
streaming down her face.  This time Darien didn't just stand
there.  He went after her.

Serena ran down the stairs, turned at the bottom and headed
towards the back of the house.  She shoved the kitchen door 
open and ran past a startled Nathan.  She opened the patio 
doors, with Darien in hot pursuit.  Serena ran out into the
storm as thunder and lightening crashed across the sky.  
Fearlessly, she ran past the pool patio and into the forest-
like backyard.  

"Serena!" Darien called after her.  Serena ignored him and 
continued to run.  She knew Darien was closing in on her and
she couldn't risk the chance of him catching her.  Darien 
caught her wrist and whirled her around against him.  This 
time he wrapped both of his strong arms around her, pinning
her in place.  Serena knew there was no chance of escaping 
this time.

Darien stared intently down at her, but Serena turned away.

"Look at me."

Serena slowly lifted her eyes to meet his.  She was almost
frightened by the amount of love she saw there.  

"Dammit Serena!" Darien's voice was low and fierce.  "Why are
you doing this?  Why don't you understand that I love you?"

"Love me?" She asked him, unbelieving.

"Serena, what's wrong?  Why are you acting this way?" Darien
asked her softly.

"I'm afraid, Darien.  I'm scared." She whispered softly and 
turned her head away from him.

"Oh Serena!  Darling, there is nothing to be afraid of." 
Darien whispered, smothering her face with kisses.  

"Darien..." Serena sobbed before burying her face in his chest.
Darien was content to hold her while she cried, and the rain 
poured down around them.
