A Dancer's Past: Part One Usagi-chan Usagi@lunap.com I don't own Sailormoon or anything pertaining to. E-mail me! ~~~ "Oh come on Serena! You have to go with us! You're the best dancer we have. Besides, you speak Japanese and we need someone who can help us get around. We'll only be in Tokyo for a week and a half! Please!" pleaded Rachel. She was begging her best friend and fellow ballet dancer to accompany them on their next tour. Serena had always been so willing to go before. Now, suddenly, she refused. It didn't make sense to Rachel. Serena sighed and turned to the window of her apartment. "Rachel, there's so much about that you don't know. I don't only speak Japanese, but was born and raised in Japan. I am thoroughly Japanese!" Serena knew this was going to be a long night. She now knew she would have to explain everything to her friend and she was afraid of losing Rachel's friendship. Everyone at the dance academy scorned her. They all thought her a stuck up snob. Rachel had been the only one that had gotten to know her. Now, their friendship was being threatened. All because of the past. Her past. "Oh, Mamo-chan, you haunt me even now…" She whispered to the glass. "I know you're Japanese. When you wouldn't go on the trip, I asked Madame Duvo why. She said that you were a Japanese girl with a past. A past that you wouldn't talk about. She could only await the day that you would tell her." Rachel said. "Then maybe we should go talk to her, as well. I guess it's finally time for the truth to come out." Serena said in quietly. She picked up her car keys and walked to the door of her apartment, Rachel followed her. "I have dreaded this day, but now its here." Serena locked her door behind them and went down to her car. They drove in silence. Rachel watched as Serena's hands shook. Serena gripped the stirring wheel for support, but knew she was still shaking. As they pulled into their dance instructor's driveway, Serena began to get very nervous. Slowly she and Rachel got out of the car and walked to the front door. Rachel rang the doorbell. A few moments later Madame Duvo was at the door. "Serena! Rachel! What a pleasant surprise. Please come in." She gestured for them to enter her house, so they did. "Please, come this way." Madame Duvo directed them into the sitting room. They walked into the room and sat down. Serena sat facing a window. "You've always had a fascination with window's Serena. Why?" Madame Duvo asked. "Yes, this is the night for questions. This time, you'll get answer's." Serena responded. "I hate mirrors. They had an important part in my past. Windows are like an escape. They intrigue me, and they're safe." "Rachel? What started this? Why is she actually answering my questions?" Madame Duvo asked. "I asked her why she wouldn't come to Japan with us. Then she said something about a Mamo-chan.." Rachel's voice trailed off. "That's a good place to start. With Mamo-chan. I love him." Serena stated simply. "My name isn't Serena, but Usagi. Serena is derived from my name in my previous life, Serenity. In my past life, I was the Princess of the Moon, and Mamo-chan was the Prince of Earth. One day, we were to marry, but an evil force attacked my home. Endymion, the Prince of Earth, died by a sword that was meant for me. I couldn't live without him, and all of my protectors and friends were dead. I had no reason to live. I took my love's sword and killed myself. My mother came just as I implanted the blade in my heart. The moment she saw that, she knew she had to stop the evil. Using the Silver Crystal, she trapped the evil and our spirits and sent us to the future on Earth. This time." Usagi paused. "Serena, are you feeling ok?" Rachel asked. Usagi opened her hand and showed them the Silver Crystal. "Yes. Back to the story. In this life, when I was fourteen, a black cat came to me and spoke. She said I was the warrior Sailor Moon, fighter for love and justice. My mission was to find the Moon Princess and protect her. We didn't know that I was the Moon Princess. Later, I was joined by Tuxedo Mask, Sailor Mercury, Sailor Mars, Sailor Sailor Jupiter, Sailor Venus, Sailor Pluto or the Guardian of Time, Sailor Uranus, Sailor Neptune and Sailor Saturn. There was another cat, Artemis. Also, my future daughter came to the past and was Sailor Chibi Moon. We fought a lot and defeated much evil. With Mamoru or Tuxedo Mask by my side, I was invincible. Then, one day, he said he didn't love me anymore. I know he did, he does… I don't know why he broke up with me. That's when I came here. I couldn't live in Japan. It hurt, hurts, too much. Now you're asking me to go back. That's just too hard…"Usagi's voice trailed off. "So, that's why you were so afraid to trust me. You poor dear." Madame Duvo said. "You mean you believe me?" Usagi asked. "I don't." Rachel cut in. "I mean, be realistic. A Moon Princess? Fighter for love and justice? Come on Serena!" "Moon Eternal…Make up!" Was Usagi's reply. A few seconds later, Super Eternal Sailor Moon stood where Usagi once had. "That's why, the crescent moon appears on you're forehead when you dance. I always wondered…" Madame Duvo said. Super Eternal Sailor Moon powered down and Usagi sat in the chair. "Now you believe me, right Rachel?" She asked. "Yes… That's why you don't want to go to Japan? You don't want to face them all again? I thought they, the other's, were your friends. Don't you want to see them again?" "Yes, I do, but they will scorn me and tell me how disappointed they are. I don't know if I can handle that." Usagi said quietly. "Well, you have to try. Don't worry, Usagi, I'll stand by you no matter what." Rachel said as she got up and hugged Usagi. "Thank you Rachel. Thank you." "Then you'll go?" Madame Duvo asked. "Hai." ~~ Come on Serena! Hurry up! We have to get the bags." Rachel laughed. Usagi smiled at her gaiety. She followed her friend and grabbed their bags off the conveyor belt. "Where will we be staying?" Usagi asked Madame Duvo. "There is a hotel near the studio that has offered to let us all stay there at a reasonable rate. We have to share rooms though." She explained. "That's ok! Serena and I can share a room, right?" Rachel asked. "Of course. Now, let's move along." Quickly they made there way to the hotel. Usagi watched the other people move by, fearing that she might recognize one of the faces. Luckily, she didn't. When they arrived at the hotel, Usagi breathed a sigh of relief. ~~ "Ooo! Look at all the people Serenity! I never knew so many people liked the ballet." Rachel stood in awe. Usagi laughed. "We're a touring ballet with featured dancers. Of course a lot of people showed up!" Serenity gazed out at the crowd. She found a familiar face. "Shingo…" she whispered. "What?" "Nothing. Let's get off the stage now. It'll start any minute." Usagi turned and walked away. After the performance, the dancers went to mingle with the watchers. Usagi hoped she wouldn't run into Shingo. It had been two and a half years since she had seen her brother, and she left without any explanation. Suddenly, she heard his voice. "Come on Mika! You want to meet Serenity. There she is." So that's why he was there. On a date. Usagi tried to move away, but there were too many people. She felt a hand on her shoulder. She turned around to find herself looking at her father. "Serenity, what a pleasure it is to meet you…Usagi-chan?" her father recognized her. "Yes. It's me." She said quietly. "Usagi….." Her mother said. "Shingo! It's Usagi!" Her brother rushed over, leaving Mika behind. "Usagi-chan!" he cried in surprise. "Hello, Shingo-chan." "Usagi-chan, you have a lot of explaining to do." Her father told her. "I know, but I have to work now. I'll go *pause* home after. As soon as I can." When her parents nodded she turned and spoke to the other audience members. Rachel came up beside her and squeezed her hand. "How are you holding up? I'm assuming it went well?" "Yes, I have to go home though. To explain. Everything. I wouldn't mind some company." Usagi hinted. "I'll be there. Come on! Let's go get changed, ok?" "Yeah sure. ~~~
