A friend of mine was curious about the whole NAWA thing on my index page, so he looked it up and found a site about it. (Thank you again by the way I was truly enlightened^_^) Nawa Shibari, Nawa meaning rope and Shibari meaning tie in Japanese, is the Japanese art of erotic bondage, also known as Kinbaku (to bind tightly). I did a good deal of reading up on it the other night and found it both surprisingly appealing and tremendously complex. The more I read the more complicated things appeared to be; there are several different types of ropes, knots, and styles of Kinbaku (which I profess I would never have any chance of mastering, even with the ropes needed I cant even make a paper boat.) I can, however, provide a bit of info.
Shinju, or pearls, are upper torso bondage. The rope will typically go over and above a womans breasts and when a harness is involved (when the rope goes around the womans neck) the rope goes between the breasts also, running over the sternum. Thus the rope is resting atop various pressure points on the womans body. Shinju can also include takatekote (tying of the arms and wrists), ushirode (tying ones hands behind ones back), or both for that matter.
Karada is a type of body harness that is often times created using a single rope. Sometimes tsurinawa (a special rope used for suspension) is employed to suspend part of the submissives body or all of it. There are tons of different types of karada, and most people who practice Kinbaku come up with their own unique karada that fits their style.
Nawa Shibari is used to instill a feeling of helplessness and sometimes embarrassment in ones partner. The sexual tension this creates is supposed to be overwhelming.
Essentially, Nawa Shibari is all about the submission of one and the dominance of another, just in extremes. Oh, and its also about pressure points, which I thought of more as erogenous zones cause hell, that just sounds a lot sexier in my mind (and pressure points just made me think about that one Ranma episode with Miss Hinako and the pressure points on her chest).
On a final note, I was a bit disappointed not to find any tied up guys or even a word about Kinbaku used on men, which led me to wonder whether any of the girls involved ever wanted to turn tables. They had to have Im sure. Just the thought of it... *sigh* How sexy
Oh, and, hahahahaha, almost forgot! Click *Here* if you want to visit the site I got all this info from. It has a ton of descriptions, guides, even photos. Enjoy you naughty peoples!
