 My father carried this photo of my mother, my
brother, and me in his pocket during World War II. He served in
the Pacific Theater being wounded twice and receiving two
Purple Hearts. He also received a Bronze Star for his
bravery in battle.
During the war, my mother moved us to my
grandparents' home so early on I started calling my
grandmother Mama Teresita.
