4.27.05 First Chemotherapy treatment UC Davis in Sacramento Several hours of two different chemotherapy and all sorts of other drugs- steroids (ironically- see costume beforehand) anti-nausea and antihistamines--)go in through the IV . The Chai tea latte goes in the regular way!
During and after the treatment Mimi was given several anit-nausea durgs and a steroid. She was somewhat tired the first few days, but had some energy. Among other activities, we take to her to Maya's 5-year check up and have a Friday night Shabbat dinner at the home of Mimi's brother David, and sister-in-law, Maddy. Three days after the treatment, Mimi broke out in a large itchy rash for which she was told to take benadryl and which make her even more tired. She was seen by the dermatology department at Stanford and was told it's a classic drug allergy (but they could not say which of of the many drugs she had been given had caused it. ) They turned Mimi's rash into a teachable moment. Four residents were asked to come in and guess what type of rash it was.
5.8.05 Mother's Day - We celebrate with Mimi's parents who give Mimi the hat (which will soon come in handy) and her sister-in-law Maddy and brother David's family.
5.14.05 Mimi's "poker" group (now spread all over the Bay Area and which gets together only infrequently) comes over Sunday 5/14 with dinner, playing cards, good humor and much encourgement.

5.15.05 We attend a somewhat formal 75th anniversary party at our synagogue at which Mimi's folks were honored. Mimi intended to wear the scarf as a shawl, but realized she now needed it to cover her shedding head.
