The second treatment was easier to tolerate than the first, largely because Mimi did not get the allergic rash-- probably because we eliminated one of the anti-nausea drugs and/or increased the time she remained on a a steroid. Fortunately, the nausea was not bad. While Mimi was somewhat tired and experienced some usual visual symptoms the first few days after treatment, her energy returned and she was able to participate fully in all kinds of kids' year end events: Maya's ballet recital, Elana's Broadway Review show, class parties, softball games, etc.
Memorial Day weekend was very memorable. It was our nephew Avi's Bar Mitzvah and a weekend full of relatives visiting from all over the country and various events in which Mimi was able to participate. In fact we hosted a brunch (fully catered) for over 100 relatives and out-of-towners. Monday, May 30 was our 12th anniversary. Ironically, Mimi had been called to jury duty the following week--something she's always hoped to do, but couldn't do it this time. She even went to jury duty while on maternity leave and nursing Elana. She was placed on a jury but challenged (bumped off), probably because she really knows the meaning of "beyond a reasonable doubt." |
