The WEBB family of Gloucester
On 3 March 1768, Richard WEBB, staymaker aged 28 of Holy Trinity, Gloucester and Mary BAYLIS aged 23, of the College Precincts, Gloucester were married at St Mary de Lode church.

So far, I have been unable to find further background information on these two people.

However, they had 4 children baptised at St Nicholas between 1769 and 1775.  Their only son was Richard (see below) born 1770.

It is believed that the family lived here at 184 Westgate Street (now 26 Westgate St) as this sketch has been handed down in family papers.
Charles Houlton WEBB MD MRCS emigrated to South Australia in 1848 and set up practice in Clare.  He died there on 9 June 1870 after two marriages and a large family.  He was Mayor of Clare 1869-1870.

Richard attended Magdalen College at Oxford, receiving his BA in 1791 and his MA in 1796.  In 1800 he was installed as the 7th Canon at St Pauls, appointed a Gentleman of the Chapels Royal in 1801 and Conduct of Eton in 1812 - among many other things.

He married twice - his first wife Mary ?? but his second was Susan HOULTON whom he married on 6 July 1814 at St Georges Hanover Square, London.

He had 2 known sons with Mary - William in 1802 and Frederick in 1804.  It is probable that Richard and Susan had 6 children, and among these were 2 sons, George Houlton born 11 November 1816 and Charles Houlton born 5 March 1818.
