It is believed to be Catherine (Kate) WILLIAMS. If it is, she was born 1837 in Northam, Devon and emigrated with her family in 1849, aged 12. Therefore, this photo would have been taken in Northam or Bideford around 1843 which is fairly early for photography.
Kate married George SHORNEY on 22 April 1859 in North Adelaide and they had 8 children in Cox's Creek and Bridgewater in the Adelaide Hills.
Could it be one of her five daughters? I have a photo of one of them and the eyes are certainly similar to Bertha's.
