Charlestown Harbour where Baker BANKS lived when he was Manager of the Port from 1802.  Baker BANKS had been born in Kent, but lived most of his life in Cornwall and was buried at the Watering Hill Close Cemetery at St Austell in 1840.  Baker was the son of Robert BANKS and Martha BAKER of Kent.
Baker Banks CARVOSSO was born 7 June 1841 at Truro - coming out to South Australia when only 7 years old.   He was the son of Samuel CARVOSSO and Louisa BANKS who had married at Falmouth on 24 March 1840.  He is shown here in his uniform of the South Australian Volunteer Rifles - and if anyone has information on this unit I would love to hear from you.
Philip CHEEK and Olivia (nee PENALUNA) his wife.  Olivia was born in Gwennap in May 1845 and emigrated to South Australia when she was 9.  She was the daughter of Thomas PENALUNA and Avis MANKEY.
St Clether church where James HAWKE and Grace CORY married on 7 April 1836.  They did not emigrate until 1858 when their youngest child was 10.  Robert can be seen among the tombstones by James's parents, William and Margaret, as well as other family members.
