Nancy Thompson was the fourth child of Thomas and Telitha Thompson. She was born in 1842 while the family was still in Orange County, North Carolina. When her father's land in Wayne County was divided among his children after his death, she received her portion. She married Micajah Patterson. They had two children, John W. Patterson, born 1859, and Mary F. Patterson, born 1870. John W. Patterson married Alice Carter 24 July, 1887.
In the 1870 Census Nancy is enumerated with her sister, Sally Price. Her husband was apparently dead. By 1874 Nancy Thompson Patterson had married Robert Wade, and is enumerated with him in the 1880 Wayne County Census. In that census Nancy's son, John W. Patterson, is enumerated with Julius Beard, who lived in the residence next to Robert and Nancy. Robert and Nancy had two children together. Their names were Mary Frances Wade, born 19 June, 1874, and Florence Wade, born 2 April, 1879.
