Catherine Thompson was born 2 June, 1832, oldest child of Thomas and Telitha Thompson of Orange County, North Carolina. Between 1850 and 1854 the family moved to Wayne County, North Carolina. 19 April, 1854 Catherine Thompson married Stephen Henry Price in Wayne County.
Catherine is listed in the 1860 Wayne County Census with her husband and children in the Indian Springs District, page 479b. When her father died, 17 November, 1862, and his land was divided among his children, Catherine received a portion of his land where she and her family remained until her death. Her husband was dead by 1870.
In the 1870 Wayne County Census, Brogden Township, Catherine is listed as head of household. Enumerated with her are her children and her sister, Nelly Thompson.
Once again, in the 1880 Wayne County Census, Brogden Township, Catherine is listed as head of household.
