| FAQ'S What is the MLSL? MLSL stands for the Milton Ladies Softball League which is a softball league for adult females. What format is the league? Recreational The league has 12 teams. The recreational league has a variety of opponents, but also to keep play at relatively the same level - more competitive and fun. This league is re-organized each year based on the number of teams playing and to maximize the number of games played during the regular season. In order to get onto a recreational team, you register with the league as an individual member and are put onto an existing team. Team Entry? Team Entry is formed for those individuals who have their own team put together and would like to enter an entire team as opposed to joining as an individual. What is the average age of the league members? Most members the range from 18 to 65. What are the rules for the league? The league uses the Canadian Amateur Softball rules and regulations, however there are a few exceptions. Exceptions are listed on our rules section of the website. Does the league have umpires? The MLSL uses umpires that are carded by Softball Association. Each of the games has one umpire and there are two umpires used for the playoff. How many games do you play in a year? The number of games varies slightly from year to year based on the number of teams in the league. Over the past few years, we have played 16 games in a season. However this year we are playing 22 games each. What night of the week are your games? The MLSL has games scheduled on Monday and/or Tuesday nights. You may have to play two games for the rescheduled rain out games. How many games do you play in a week? One or two games a week. Each game is approximately 90 minutes in length. What are the game times? Six or Seven games are scheduled each week. Mondays and Tuesdays at 7:00 & 9:00pm. Where do we play? The MLSL was given 2 brand new diamonds for the 2005 season. Drumquin east and west (located at the corner of Britannia and Trafalgar Rd) What calibre is the league? The league has a range of team with varying calibres. Each team is formed by their team representative or coach. The team representative have control over their players levels. Does the league have any events? The MLSL holds one event each year for it's members. In October each year, the MLSL holds an Annual Banquet in Milton. What are the league fees? Set by the Executive Committee each year, the fees for the 2009 season is $150.00 at the mall registration and $160.00 after the mall and includes all your games, banquet and related costs (diamonds, umpires, bases, spikes & game balls). Refunds are only issued to players that are ill, injured or pregnant before they play their first game.
