| Not much to report on this month. No major surgery was preformed after the tournament, although I heard that a few had to go to the hospital with hypothermia and frostbite. The Simmons Brothers (Jeff and Jimmy (the new guy) were knocking people out left and right and ended up finishing Third and First, respectively. Only Mike Sweitzer got in way of them finishing 1 and 2. No information was recorded as to how the final hand played out, so if Mike or Jimmy would like to provide it, I'll gladly put it up. Two interesting hands saw Jeff Simmons take out three people (a record for those keeping track) when his AA stood up against KK, 99 and A 10. According to the poker odds calculator at www.cardplayer.com, the approximate (I wasn't sure of the suits) winning percentages pre-flop were: AA - 59% KK - 18% 99 - 18% A 10 - 5% So you see, the best hand wins.....sometimes. The other had I recall involved KK vs JJ. Pre-flop the Kings are a 4:1 favorite (80% vs. 20%). The flop came AAX (I don't recall the third flop card represented as X). The kings were now an even bigger favorite (92% vs. 8%). All the money got into the middle after the flop. The turn came a blank (no help to either player) and the kings only need to dodge the two jacks left in the deck (5% chance of hitting on the river). The river was of course (or I would not be telling you any of this) a J. So I guess the best hand wins and loses. Oh and by the way, we will have to revote on wether or not to allow Jimmy (the new guy) Simmons into the tournament, because he won. |
