Clifton Eugene Mills

Around June 4th, 1941 my grandfather Clifton Eugene Mills made the remark to my grandmother Mattie Ophelia Beck-Mills,  that before he would see  3 of their 4 sons go to war, that he would take his life. He bought a new outfit of clothes...she saw him place the clothes in a trunk. On June 6, 1941, he did exactly what she had feared....he took his life by slashing his throat with a straight razor. My mother Beunah Inez Mills and her sister Mary Kate Mills  found him with his head almost cut off. My mother took the end of her skirt and wrapped it around her finger and wiped away the blow flies that had already settled on his body.
