Trade Analysis
Drummers receives Dontrelle Willis and Andruw Jones
Fogtown receives Ian Kinsler and Joe Nathan

Fogtown gets the best value in this deal.  Here is how the players break down:

Kinsler is an emerging young stud 2B with power and speed.

Joe Nathan is among the best closers in baseball.

Andruw Jones is a great power hitter who regularly struggles with his average and has struggled big time this season.

Dontrelle tends to be overrated and inconsistent but he is still a solid pitcher overall.

Fog gets the better end of this deal because of Jones and Dontrelles inconsistencies and the likely continued emergence of Kinsler as a top young 2B.

Drummers receives Andy Marte, Matt Capps, and Prospects: Michael Bowden, Dexter Fowler, Chris Marrero
Brooklyn receives Nick Swisher, and Chipper Jones

This trade is a wash as both teams get what they want.  Here is the breakdown:

Andy Marte was a top power hitting prospect a couple seasons ago but has only been overmatched in the MLB but still the potential is still there.

Capps is a good young RP who has a chance to become the closer in Pitt at some point soon.

Bowden was a top 100 BA prospect to start the season and has dominated all year to become one of the youngest pitchers in AA.  Bowden is going to skyrocket on that top 100 list for next season.

Fowler was around 50th on BA prospect list and has not impressed this year but has not been completely abysmal either.  His stock could still go up or down from where it was to start the season.

Marrero was not even on BAs top 100 list but he will certainly be there next season.  He already has 12 HRs while hitting over .300 in Low-A as an 18 year old. He has big time hitting potential.

Swisher hit 35 HRs last year with a bad average.  His power is real and if he can get his average respectable then he is an emerging star. In any case though, hell always have his power which still makes him a poor mans Adam Dunn.

Jones is still a great hitter but he is old and injury prone.

This trade is a wash because Swisher and Jones are already established top big league hitters but each has some flaws.  Meanwhile the prospects have the potential to easily surpass Jones and Swisher if they live up to their potential.  It is basically a case of one team going the youth movement course and another trying to contend now.
