Trances

trance    (trans, tr�ns)  n.1. a half-conscious and sleeplike state, as that produced by hypnosis. 2. a dazed condition. 3. a state of complete mental absorption.


1. Physical Relaxation
Find a nice quiet place to relax where you wont be bothered by the every day noises and problems of the world. Set aside at least 30 minutes when you will not be interrupted. Make sure you have a comfortable chair
.
2. Mental Relaxation
Clear your mind and decide on a place you would like to go. If it is a beach imagine you can feel the sun shining on you and the sand beneath your feet. This will remain your goal throughout the exercise. Breathe deeply and concentrate on each breath.

3.Eyelids
Your eyelids will probably already feel heavy at this point. Close them. Imagine they are too heavy to open. You will feel that you don't want them to open. When you think the are so relaxed that they cant open, test them. If you have found that they wont open then you have allowed your unconscious mind to take over
.
4.Body Relaxation
Continue the breathing until you feel your whole body relax. It will feel as though you are so relaxed you could melt into the chair. Relax each muscle in your body so that they no longer want to move. This is the best way ever to relax after a hard day. If you find it hard to clear your mind imagine a broom and use it to sweep away any persistent negative thoughts that distract you.

If your mind is so active and cluttered that you cant get through all the steps try this:
Find a dark spot on the inside of your eyelid and try to hold it still, try to keep your eye right on it while counting one thousand and one, one thousand and two. etc..... Start a recount every time a stray thought interferes with you counting.
You will have to practice to become proficient at this. Before you come out of the trance tell yourself that you will feel relaxed and refreshed.

MOST PEOPLE WILL WANT TO STOP RIGHT HERE. So to bring yourself out tell yourself that when you count slowly to five, your imagination will allow your eyes to open and you will feel really good, wide awake and tranquil.
