This week, James Brady sits down with Sutton Foster, the bright young star of the hit Broadway musical Thoroughly Modern Millie. Was Foster and the rest of the Millie cast dismayed by some of the negative reviews the show received early on?
We were shocked at those negative reviews, says Foster. And we werent kidding ourselves. Ive been in shows where everyone knew it was a turkey. This is no turkey.
Before her role as Millie, Foster starred as Eponine in Les Misérables, playing the part on tour and on Broadway. Her other Broadway credits include Sandy in the revival of Grease!; Star-to-Be in the original cast of the 20th Anniversary production of Annie; and a member of the original company of The Scarlet Pimpernel. Perhaps most intriguing, though, Foster was part of a workshop for the musical Summer of '42, which was co-written by her brother, Hunter Foster.
