ATW Seminars Feature Theatre Stars From Onstage and Off By Missy Frederick
NEW YORK -– They say nothing in life is free, but for members of the theatrical community, American Theatre Wing Seminars may be an exception.
Oct. 16-18, panels of Broadway and Off-Broadway personalities will give discussion and instruction. The seminars, now in their 29th year, are held every fall and spring, and broadcast six times a week on CUNY-TV.
On the 16th, ATW holds a playwright/director/choreographer seminar from 11 AM to 1 PM. Guests include Rob Ashford (Thoroughly Modern Millie), Michael Frayn (Noises Off), Sean Mathias (Dance of Death) and Lynne Meadow (The Tale of the Allergist’s Wife).
A production seminar on Mamma Mia! will be held form 11 AM to 1 PM Oct. 17.
There are two seminars Oct. 18. A performance seminar from 11 AM to 1 PM will feature Kate Burton (Hedda Gabler), John Cullum (Urinetown), Peter Gallagher (Noises Off) and Robert Sean Leonard (The Music Man).
A design seminar will follow 2-4 PM, led by Robert Jones (Noises Off), William Ivy Long (45 Seconds From Broadway), Thomas Lynch (Thou Shalt Not), Brian MacDevitt (The Women), and Tony Walton and David Woolard (The Rocky Horror Show).
The seminars are free for members of the theatre community, including theatre students, members of theatrical unions and guilds and casts of Broadway and Off-Broadway shows. Resevations must be made in advance by calling (212) 765-0606, faxing (212) 307-1910 or emailing [email protected].
All of the seminars are being held at The Graduate Center of the City University of new York, 365 5th Ave. at 34th St.
