Seussical and Millie Postpone Previews and Opening Dates By Randy Gener
NEW YORK -- Friday the 13th may be just two days away, but two Broadway-bound shows have announced that they are pushing back their first preview and opening night dates.
With show doctor Rob Marshall on board, Seussical has postponed its preview and opening dates. The show's first preview date is now 3 PM Oct. 29, and the opening date has been rescheduled to 6:30 PM Nov. 30. The new musical based on the works of Dr. Seuss is being retooled and rewritten, and the producers have pumped another $1.5 million into the show, for a total of $10 million.

Meanwhile, the Broadway-bound Thoroughly Modern Millie has been experiencing technical and personnel glitches. A computer problem caused the turntable set to jam, just minute before the first performance on Oct. 6, and so the cast had to sing the show with the orchestra but without the benefit of a set. This came on top of a last-minute replacement of the leading lady.
Producers have pushed back its first previews for the fourth time in a row. Now the show is set to open 7 PM Sunday, Oct. 22. The first preview performances began Tuesday, Oct. 10.
