Your seedlings will be happy and healthy 6 to 8-week-old plants, in 4" containers. I will harden them off, so all you need to do is plant them.

Tomatoes should be planted between May 21 and June 7 (or even June 14).
Planting tomatoes in cool soil puts them into a "holding pattern" until the soil gets warmer, which is why their planting dates are a bit after our frost-free date. Planting tomato plants early seldom results in earlier tomatoes, unless you use frames, tunnels, etc.
