Summary

As an Information Technology Professional with over two decades of varied experience, I have performed systems analysis, application development, planning, project management, data migration, systems conversion, marketing, customer support, software packaging and implementation. I think that I can read, write and speak rather well.

Mainframe Skills

I have spent over twenty years doing mainframe development projects for various industries. Most of the work was applications oriented, but I have done considerable systems and internals work.

Here are some of the components that I have used recently: COBOL, Assembler, JCL, JES, TSO, ISPF, DB2, SQL, Spufi, MQSeries, OAM, CPCS, HPTS, CIMS, SMPE, VSAM, Utilities, FTP, IDSS (return to Contents)

My first exposure to personal computers was an assembly language class for the Intel 8080 micro processor. I took this class at Central Piedmont Community Class in Charlotte, NC in 1976.

I have more than ten years of experience using MSDOS, Unix, Windows and various other operating systems that are no longer used.

Carreker Corporation - 1999 to 2005

I ended up at Carreker Corporation after a contract job with The IBM Payment Solutions Group turned into a full time job at Check Solutions Company. Check Solutions was bought out by Carreker. To clarify, this engagement started at IBM in Charlotte in 1995 and ended at Carreker Corporation in 2005.

During this period I was involved in the development of a mainframe based Check Image Archive system that was used by about ten of the largest banks in the United States. After the successful development of this project, I had primary responsibility for maintenance, enhancements, and customer support.

Other duties included supporting and enhancing their Check Image Import and Check Image Export applications to meet new customer requirements. Specific enhancements include building the interfaces that feed various check image archive applications including Viewpointe.

I participated in the design and implementation of Carreker's Check 21 products.

Also, I was responsible for level 3 customer support for various other check image storage and delivery applications. (return to Contents)

Independent Consultant - 1979 to 1999

I worked as an independent software consultant for a number of years. I had engagements using various platforms including main frames, mini computers and personal computers. Here are a few highlights.>/p>

I developed personal computer based Sales Illustration Software that was used by more than 10 life insurance companies and by 10,000 or more agents.

I directed the conversion of all applications for a state board of education to a new hardware platform and operating system. I also participated in a number of other operating systems conversions

I worked as a contract programmer in the banking, retail, trust, computer services and various other industries.

I assisted clients in the design and purchase of computer systems that met their requirements. Developed custom software for clients or helped in the selection of commercial software.

First Union National Bank - 1971 to 1978

While employed by First Union, I was involved in the development of electronic funds transfer systems, customer information systems and mortgage banking systems. I was involved in a number of operating systems conversions and optimization projects. (return to Contents)
