1994 Jetco/Babe-X
This year marked the debut of long time pitcher, Scott Liese – although he wouldn’t pitch his first game until the following year. With the permanent additions of Damian and The Watcher, the team began to assimilate some of the best young talent in the area. During this season, many games were played at the beautiful IBM complex. It also was the scene of one of the most vagrant victories ever. With many key personnel missing, a myriad of reserves was forced to play vs. Arturo’s. This ragtag band, with a blind man, Gino Hinners, at 3B managed to keep close in the game. Going into the last inning, the score was 5-2. Amazingly with two outs and nobody on base, a rally was brewing. Three consecutive hits cut the score to 5-3, and up to the plate strode Keith Nickerson, who had never connected with a ball in league play up to this point. Keith did the only thing that he knew how to - he took every pitch until they had walked him. One next batter’s base hit, Keith basically stole third base when the fielders weren’t paying attention. After an infield hit, Babe Lake followed with a base on balls to tie the game. With two outs and Scott Liese at the plate, the most feeble hit of all time – 2 feet in front of the plate - scored the winning run from third base.
