Grandma's Words of Wisdom

There little girl's grandma lies dying in bed,
She stands nearby listening to what is said.
Her eyes hold tears she tried hard not to show,
Her grandma smiles, for there isn't much she doesn't know.

"Sweetheart, don't you worry at all about me,
Forever you will hold me in your memory.
I have lied to a rather ripe, old age,
Compare it to a storybook, each day has a new page.

"You will end up facing challenges, don't give up hope,
Just use your heart to make decisions, and you will always cope.
One must be strong to live with successes and strife,
I know this now from my experiences in life.

"You'll have many choices you'll have to make,
And yes, dear, many times your heart will break.
Despite the pain and tears, your heart will always heal,
Never give into temptation, don't let yourself steal.

"Listen to my words, my dear child, they are true,
These are the things when I was your age I wish I knew."
With a slight smile and a squeeze of her hand,
Grandma hoped she helped the little girl to understand.

She kissed her grandma gently as she slowly closed her eyes,
And with Grandma's wisdom in her heart, she said her last good-bye.

I Have an Angel

I have an angel with me,
inside of my head,
even when she is not near.

She came from me,
and she resides with me,
and in me every moment of my living.

From the moment she emerged she owned me,
heart and soul.
She brings me my greatest joys,
and my most unholy sorrow.

And we are linked spiritually,
and physically.

She has the greatest beauty I have ever seen.
The poets have written of the likes of her...
golden hair, and eyes of the sea,
a heart capable of capturing the soul,
of anyone or anything that comes near.

She grows even as I watch,
and when she is grown,
she will be a power to behold:
strong, beautiful and powerful in spirit,
graceful, delicate, charming and funny.

She captures your eyes, but wait until
you feel the pull of her true self-
you can fall, you know!

Everyone who knows her has fallen,
and she has only just begun...
My smiling Angel,
my smiley,
my Ailie.

I Wonder as I Wander

I wonder as I wander
Out under the sky
Why do people I care about
Always have to die?

Are you happy where you are,
Wherever that may be?
I wonder as I wander,
Do you still think of me?

Is it nice up there in heaven?
For I know you made it there.
Are the clouds made out of marshmallows?
Do you know that I still care?

I look up at the winter sky,
And shed a single tear.
I think of all the days gone by,
I'll always hold you dear.

I wonder as I wander
Out under the sky
Why do people I care about
Always have to die?

Mother

I have a mother,
and she's very sweet.
During the fun times,
she always tickles my feet.

When I'm down,
or drowning in self-doubt,
all I have to do is call her name,
and she will let me out.

We have been there for each other,
always through think and thin.
When there is a secret that I didn't know,
she would let me in.

She will never leave my heart,
no matter what she does.
She's my one and only,
she's my one true love.

Seize the Day

Just a moment in this lifetime,
Just a tragedy ahead.
Not knowing where each turn will lead,
Within seconds we might be dead.

Live each day to the fullest,
Do not stop to wonder why.
Do everything your heart desires,
In dreams, reach for the sky.

Surprises at every stop sign,
With its share of wrong ways and dead-ends.
Statistics don't help you with the future,
They only tell you where you've been.

With so many people among us,
There are no certainties.
And all it takes is just one person,
To reroute history.

Don't waste one single moment,
How very precious that they are.
What seems a long way off,
Is really not that far.

When Tomorrow Starts Without Me

When tomorrow starts without me, and I'm not there to see;
If the sun should rise and find your eyes all filled with tears for me;
I wish so much you wouldn't cry the way you did today,
While thinking of the many things we didn't get to say.
I know how much you love me, as much as I love you,
And each time you think of me, I know you'll miss me, too;
But when tomorrow starts without me, please try to understand,
That an angel came and called my name and took me by the hand,
And said my place was ready in heaven far above,
And that I'd have to leave behind all those I dearly love.
But as I turned to walk away, a tear fell from my eye,
For all my life, I'd always thought I didn't want to die.
I has so much to live for and so much yet to do,
It seemed almost impossible that I was leaving you.
I thought of all the yesterdays, the good ones and the bad,
I thought all the love we shared and all the fun we had.
If I could relive yesterday, I thought, just for a while,
I'd say good-bye and kiss you and maybe see your smile.
But then I fully realized that this could never be,
For emptiness and memories would take the place of me.
And when I thought of worldly things that I'd miss tomorrow,
I thought of you, and when I did, my heart was filled with sorrow.
But when I walked through heaven's gates, I felt so much at home.
When God looked down and smiled at me, from His great golden throne,
He said, "This is eternity and all I've promised you,
Today for life on Earth is past but here it starts anew.
I promise no tomorrow, but today will always last,
And since each day's the same day, there's no longing for the past.
But you have been so faithful, so trusting and so true,
Though there were times you did some things you knew you shouldn't do.
But you have been forgiven and now at last you're free.
So won't you take my hand and share my life with me?"
So when tomorrow starts without me, don't think we're far apart,
For every time you think of me, I'm right here in your heart.
