Brian's Simple Pleasures

Source:BB magazine

While most famous music-makers spend their lives in the fast lane splurging on all that money has to offer, Brian Littrell of the Backstreet Boys admits that he'd prefer a night at home with a rented video and a basket full of dirty laundry over a limo-escorted evening out on the town anytime. However, this is not to say that Brian hasn't enjoyed the last five years he's spent with Kevin Richardson, Howie Dorough, AJ. McLean and Nick Carter, performing mega-hits like "Everybody (Backstreet's Back)" and "I'll Never Break Your Heart" off their 1997 self-titled CD. It's just that if he was given the opportunity to take a time-out from his hectic schedule of tours, interviews and public appearances to enjoy the simpler things in life, this 24-year-old sweetheart would jump for joy.

"I miss the stupidest, most simple things in life," he blushes. "Just like having time to do your laundry. I know that sounds really ridiculous, but I miss having time to take a walk in the park and have a picnic with somebody, or to just get in my Jeep and drive or wash it, even lay on the couch some Sunday afternoon and do nothing at all."

Well, although he says he'd enjoy doing nothing with his free time, we saw the real Brian shine through when he excitedly told BB about how whenever he gets the chance, he loves volunteering at a local high school back home near Lexington, Kentucky. "Having experiences like that," the humble-hearted guy says about working with students, "kind of takes you out of that [celebrity mind-set] and keeps you normal." From the sound of this simple pleasure-loving sweetie, Brian's about as normal as you can get.
