Movie of the new Millennium / Book of the old Millennium

Lord of the Rings trailer

The Hobbit

by J R R Tolkien

Book awarded "Millennium Award"

Reviewed recently online.

Written for J.R.R. Tolkein's own children, The Hobbit met with instant critical acclaim when published in 1937. It has continued to be recognised as a classic, and won the Keith Baker Millennium Book Award, presented in 2000 by the Youth Libraries Group, School Library Association and Library Association Schools Library Group, for the most significant children's book published between 1920 and 1939.

Recently I have been playing the Lord of the Rings on the Gamecube gaming system. Realistic rendering of the fictional locations such as Rivendell and Morias mines are worth a look, but the game is let down by the unrealistic attitude taken to death. Being shot with arrow or cleaved with an axe results in minimal damage and no apparent pain. Woulds are cured instantly by eating things like Lembas, a nutricous biscuit!

Mabey I am sooking after my party was recently defeated in Morias Mines when the party in the book went through practically unscaved eh? Well, I'm off to look in to a non voiolent past-time!~snowboarding anyone?
