Imperial Guard Concepts

Anyone that has spent any time at the Infinity Circuit will know that I tend to bounce around from one army to another. truth be told, I have no fewer than nine different armies in various stages of completion. Some of these armies are composed of one or two units and are purely for display. As I find inspiration I'll focus my energy on a particular army. Lately my focus has shifted back to my Imperial Guard.

I've collected a wide assortment of IG figures and tanks, the sheer variety of miniatures is amazing. Of course, my problem is how to incorporate all of these different miniatures into one cohesive army. to date I had collected a squad of praetorians, some assorted mordians and a plastic box of catachans.

My initial thought was to create a light raiding force that could move swiftly across the battlefield. With this initial hook I began to study the different IG forces that would fit this mold. The obvious choice was the Tallaran Desert Raiders. The Tallarans have always appealed to me, but up until this point I never really considered fielding an army of them.

After closer inspection I realized that I could easily use my existing Praetorians as an armored fist squad and the Mordians would make excellent officers (in classic WWII Afrika Corps fashion). The catachans really didn't fit this theme, but I could always use them for another project (chaos cultists, anyone!!)

Having established a solid hook that incorporates most of my existing troops, my next step is to create a rough army list.

To Be Continued . . .
