| Snipers VS Swish | ||||||
| What a game, I know I speak for the all those in attendance that the basketball game between the Snipers and the Swish was one of athleticism, determination and overall sports(wo)manship. The game (unfortunately) started before most of the Sydney Boys supporters got there, and this turned out bad for the guys, as we had an awful time trying to find seats. We found seats and watched the action unfold. Helen Zhang played incredibly well as did Sarah Nam. Sarah Nam dug deep to continue playing after a timeout with a serious ankle injury/cut. It wasn't long before Catherine Shen had posted two more points on the board for the Snipers. The Snipers appeared to be dominating, especially with Swish front(wo)man Sarah Nam out of the game. Not one to dissapoint the crowd (namely Shores) Sarah Nam put her right shoe back on and got back out on the court. The Swish rallied after this act of courage and presented some exciting play. The Swish moved the ball aroud quickly and accurately and was followed up with some great shots from Anne Lin and Jesse Huang. With the Snipers falling behind and having players plagued with fatigue, a time-out was requested. With a quick re-assessment of tactics, the Snipers looked ready as ever to get back into this game. Players like Bronwyn Lever, Anna Suraev and Jess Eagger Miller played very well and really got the rest of the team going. Helen Zhang once again stepped up with some suicidal runs down the court but the support play was lacking. A great chance came when Cath Shen made a good intercept and bolted down the court while in hot pursuit by none other than Florence Lui. Cath unfortunately shot too early and quote, "I was a lot further away from the ring than I originally thought" so another chance went begging. The Swish rebounded and scored some quick points and it looked as though all was lost.....until the Swish encountered that which they feared. This fear could be summed up in one and a half words; Armina! Mina made an immediate impact on the game, notably when play had stopped, and Mina took it upon herself to take the ball and run in the wrong direction. A jump-ball followed, which Mina went surprisingly well in, the Snipers got 2 more points but that was about all they saw of the Swish ring, because the remainder of the game was played deep in the Snipers area. Other highlights from the event included our mindless chanting that lasted all of about 7 seconds, Troy's proclamation that he had been holding Jason's half-eaten sandwich for well over 30 SECONDS! and Pat's shots from the grandstand which went a hell of a lot closer to the ring than the shots of Ca..... i mean Krastev. The Swish kept it real and ran away with the game 120-108, in a true nail-biter. |

| The Swish and the Snipers weren't done, oh no, not by a long shot! The battle raged on at Alexandria Stadium where the Swish quote, "we had psychological repurcussions at night or sumfing" unquote (Sarah Nam) The game was one of high-quality but in the end, the Snipers took out the game in sensational fashion. The Snipers utilised one of their strategies entitled, 'getting the ball in the hoop' which worked well against their Swish counter-parts, keep it real! | ||||||
