WallyBall Asian VS The Curries
This match had all the hype an Ali-Ball game could garner. WallyBall Asian (WA) had decimated all their opponants in Pool B prior to the match up. The Curries had an extra game together under their belt and it was a major concern to the Asian boys that the Curries seemed more unified than ever going into this semi-final.
The match started out surprisingly, with the curries applying early pressure to a WA team that was captainless at the time. (playing without Tom Lung) Exciting plays were administered by the likes of Aman and Raj Bannerjee resulting in some thrilling saves by WA goal-keeper Walliam Kwok. The clock was running down and it woudl appear that the score would still be even at half-time, but as luck would have it, some fantastic mid-field support play from Jathon Vong provided William Luong with a 1 on 1 against Curry keeper Munir Alam. With no previous luck in striking, William Luong shocked all 200 people in attendance and slotted the ball past Munir in sensational fashion. The whistle blew and WA went into halftime with a 1-0 lead.
The second half started well for the Curries, with new recruit Nurashan proving quite a force to be reckoned with in defence. The Curries had numerous shots on goal but a major break went their way when referee Ali Alsa-Mail gave the Curries a penalty after a handball in the keeper's area. Aman stepped up and decided he would take the penalty that could equalise the game late in the second half. A tense William Kwok waited on his goal-line as Aman reared to strike. Aman charged and cracked the ball at full force, unfortunately, Aman probably had his eyes closed at the time and foolishly put the ball directly down Kwok's proverbial throat/leg. The Asians consolidated their lead and we all anxiously awaited the full-time whistle. The bell rang for class signifying injury time. This was the Curries last chance to cause an upset, to this end, a flurry of mis-directed shots and inaccurate passing led to the eventual downfall of seeing The Curry side in the Final. The final score ended up being 1-0 to the WallyBall Asian side.
