A. DONATION INFORMATION
   ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^
This scenery software is classified as DONATION-WARE. After a short
initial inspection, users of this scenery are obliged by the authors to
make a donation to the Royal Flying Doctor Service of Australia (RFDS).
If you are using multiple OzPack state sceneries, an individual donation
is required for each state.

Established in 1927, the RFDS is the oldest, most experienced and
comprehensive aerial health and emergency service in the world. At last
count, it operates 38 aircraft from 16 bases located around Australia.

The RFDS is a registered charity. Donations of $A2 or more are tax
deductible for Australian taxpayers. Taxpayers of other countries may
need to consult their tax accountants to determine deductibility.
Receipts are issued by the RFDS for all donations.

Please print and use the form found in the file DONATE.TXT when making
donations. If you do not have a printer, please write the relevant
information found in DONATE.TXT, in block letters.

Whilst how much you decide to donate is a personal matter, the following
minimum and 'commercial-ware' benchmarks are provided to help you decide
the amount.

Donations of $A5 are not much better than 'break-even' for the RFDS
when considering all related bank fees, tax receipt and other mailing
costs, and donation processing overheads.

So, Flight Simmers, dig deep into your pockets! It's for a very good and
worthy cause. From a review of the above information, a $A10 donation
would seem to be the minimum that would make the transaction worthwhile for
both you and the RFDS, and a higher amount would be most appreciated and
put to much needed use.

PLEASE HELP KEEP THE FLYING DOCTORS FLYING!

SCENERY DETAILS
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Dynamic Scenery should be set to High Density with all boxes
checked to see everything
Aircraft Traffic is aircraft that takeoff and land
Aircraft Ground Traffic is staic parked aircraft
Aircraft Service Traffic is stairs luggage and other service vehicles
Traffic Outside Airports is ships tractors
Main RWYs are used with Aircraft taking off towards the South
FS 95 Version
-------------
- Caloundra    - joyflight to glass house mountains
               - large square circuit up to 9500 ft
- Maroochydore - Qantas and Ansett 737s
               - Lear jet flys to NW and returns
- Noosa        - Joy flight around Noosa
- Brisbane Int - domestic international and general aviation
- Planes flying between Sunshine coast airports
- Yachts at Maroochydore and Caloundra  (Traffic outside airports)
- Static Planes at all airports         (Aircraft ground traffic)
- Ridge lift on the east side of Noosa Hill (see notes below)
FS 98 Version         ---- all the above plus :-
-------------
- Maroochydore service traffic for 737.
Parking any 737 carefully using the ground markings (getting outside
the aircraft will help) will cause the service to come. It will wait
about 5 min in the north parking spot and about 32 min in the south
parking spot.
- Ships off the coast
- Parachutists at Caloundra from blue Cessna at 9500 ft
- Crop duster at Roys Orchards south of Caloundra
- Helicopters at Caloundra Maroochydore
- Paragliders towed behind boats off Moreton Island
- Paragliders on the coast at Noosa Hill (see notes below)
In the FS 98 version aircraft will not taxi into or land on occupied
RWYs so avoid hogging the RWY/taxiways (as in real world) or you will
end up with the entire fleet circling the airport or some aircraft
waiting on taxiways. Jet planes will shift their parking postions
if you park in their normal spot
Ridge LIft on Noosa Hill
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Set the wind to 90 deg 20 to 30 knots. You will get gentle lift from
the ridge to 300 m down the slope. The next 200m towards the beach is
strong lift with the final 200m towards the beach with no lift.

Paragliders on Noosa Hill (FS98 only)
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The Noosa Paraglider situation included sets up a weather area with
a nice wind gradient. The lift and wind gets stronger as you get
higher topping out at about 1500 ft. Watch you dont get blown over
the back as there isnt any suitable landing site behind.
This situation is designed for a paraglider available at www.avsim.com
Do a search on paraglider and down load a file called vrhnika.zip
Unzip all the files with a Parasky\ directory into your
FlitSim\Aircraft directory (tick "use folder names" option in winzip).
This is an excellent realistic paraglider. This seems to be a
powered model so select the engines menu and turn off the engine for
soaring. Stall at about 20 knts dont exceed 40 knts. Recover from
stalls by pulling full brake (full up).
Have fun.
D. ABOUT THE SCENERY
   ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^
This scenery is the first release of the Queensland (QLD) component of the
Australian FS Scenery Portfolio by The OzPack, an Australian based team of
enthusiasts who are dedicated to producing high quality FS5.1 and FS6 scenery,
covering the entire Australian island-continent, under the 'donation-ware'
principle and with the Royal Flying Doctor Service of Australia as
beneficiary.  This is being accomplished using a series of pre-planned,
state-by-state revisions wherein, with each state's revision, more detail
is progressively introduced.
This scenery has been designed to mesh well with adjoining states' scenery
which comprise the OzPack's Australian FS Scenery Portfolio.  There are no
duplications or overlaps along state borders to 'gum up the works'.
This scenery contains all airports in QLD for which instrument procedures
are published in 'Departure and Approach Procedures' (DAP).  All are listed
in 'Enroute Supplement - Australia' (ERSA) except for the few landing strips
in the scenery which are categorised as 'authorised landing areas' (ALA).
Both DAP and ERSA are published by Airservices Australia.
The scenery also contains all QLD navaids which FS is capable  of using,
and all QLD ATIS.
Most country and provincial city airports have Pilot Activated Lighting
(PAL) using a select COM frequency, as listed in NAV_QLD.TXT.  This
facility is termed Pilot Controlled Lighting (PCL) in some countries.
Data in the NAV_QLD.TXT file and the map in QLD1N/QLD1S/QLD2.BMP or .PCX
may be used to find your way around.
Unless you have your own official charts and facilities directory, it
is suggested that you print these maps (using Windows PaintBrush or some
such) and NAV_QLD.TXT.  The latter contains the location of all rendered
airports, elevations, runway and approach lighting data, and navaids.
Official aeronautical charts can be purchased at, or ordered through, your
local pilot shops.  In Australia, these charts include the Airservices
Australia VTC series (Visual Terminal Charts), the ERC Low series (Enroute
Charts), the TAC series (Terminal Area Charts), and the WAC series (World
Aeronautical Charts).
E. GETTING STARTED
   ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^
In the World|Airports menu (World|Go_To_Airport, in FS6), first select
"AUSTRALIA - Queensland".  Then select the airport of your choice.
Authorised Landing Areas (ALA) are small, unlicensed, usually unpaved,
landing strips which are used for emergency landings by transiting light
aircraft.  These airports are listed with 'ALA' instead of with the normal
'Yxxx' Australian ID.
In the Airports menu, all "ALA" airports are listed first.  The
aircraft is located in a "ready for take-off" position.  If the airport is
serviced with ATIS, the COM frequency is set to ATIS.  If there is no ATIS,
but there is PAL, the COM frequency is set to 1 MHz below PAL.
Following the "ALA" airports portion of the Airports menu listing,
all other airports, including enhanced airports, are listed.  The aircraft
are located at a 'ready for take-off' position.  If the airport is serviced
with PAL, this frequency is set.
In FS5.1, aircraft called from the Airports menu will take on the
characteristics of the situation (STN) which was most recently active.
As all World|Airport menu options are either parked or 'ready for take
off', if your current STN is in flight, most likely you'll crash after
calling an airport from the menu.  So, in FS5.1, always enter the
Airports menu from an 'on the ground' stationary STN.
In FS6, this problem doesn't exist.  It is possible to successfully use
the World|Go_To_Airport menu from a flying position.
An attempt has been made to suppress the more significant 'putrid green
haze' sometimes seen in FS scenery on the horizon especially to seaward
and when cruising at 5000 or more feet.  Establishing clouds at the default
'Create' or 'Add Layer' setting, and Visibility at 32 km, gives a fairly
realistic appearance and suppresses any residual 'putrid green haze'.
Try the FS Land_Me facilities when cruising near enhanced airports.  To
activate, press the 'X' key.  The Land_Me feature is designed to operate
using light single engine aircraft only and doesn't handle wind nor
intervening mountains very well.  In FS6, there is a bug in the Land_Me
feature.  A work around is noted in Section F below.
========================================================================
F. BUGS IN FS
   ^^^^^^^^^^
This section lists bugs found in FS.  It also lists undesirable changes
between FS5.1 and FS6, and some FS6 troubleshooting information.
 * The DAYLIGHT SAVINGS facility doesn't work in the Southern Hemisphere
   in both FS5.1 and FS6.
 * The EFIS facility doesn't work in the Southern Hemisphere in FS5.1,
   but does work in FS6.
 * FS5.1 supports the DME ONLY type navaid, which includes TACANs, but
   not FS6.  In FS6, unfortunately, you will also have an active CDI
   when tuning NAV1 or NAV2 to DME ONLY or TACAN type navaids.
 * There is a bug in FS6 texture SEASON switching in the Southern
   Hemisphere.  When Spring is set, Autumn ground colours appear, etc.
   This bug does not exist in FS5.1.
 * LAND_ME facilities are provided in this scenery at enhanced airports.
   In FS6, when using Land_Me, the pilot often sets down to the left or
   right of the runway.  This occurs when there is an in-range VOR or DME
   tuned to NAV1 when *first starting* an FS6 session, or when a VOR or DME
   is subsequently tuned to NAV1.  De-tuning the VOR or DME will not help.
   This FS6 bug is not apparent at airports where there is little or
   no MagVar such as at Meigs in the USA.  But it is readily apparent in
   eastern and western Australia where the MagVar is substantial.
   To get Land_Me to work properly in FS6, it is necessary to specify the
   'startup' STN using a NAV1 frequency which does not exist or is out
   of range to any VOR.  You must not tune to an in-range navaid on NAV1
   prior to invoking Land_Me.
   This bug does not exist in FS5.1.
 * In FS5.1, all 2D and 3D objects appear in MapView.  In FS6, only those
   2D and 3D objects will appear if they are set to Very Sparse scenery
   complexity by the scenery designer.  In OzPack scenery, most 2D objects
   are set at Very Sparse scenery complexity and most 3D objects are set
   at Normal or above for frame rate flexibility purposes.  Hence most 3D
   objects in OzPack scenery will not appear in MapView, in FS6.
 * EXCLUDE FILES.  This scenery does not use these type of files.  Rather,
   the installation instructions specify that Oceania must be deactivated.
   But,in FS6, if you have installed any scenery which uses exclude type BGL
   files, you have a bug waiting to manifest.  Sometimes it just takes the
   installation of one more scenery file to activate this bug.  If you get
   FS6 'kernal32' type errors with the installation of this scenery, you
   can suspect that this is what may have happened, assuming you have
   installed FSASMLIB.DLL per instructions.
   To recover, close down FS6 and W95, and your computer.  Restart W95 and
   remove all exclude files issued with other scenery from other scenery
   directories.  Then restart FS6.  It may be found, before restarting FS6,
   that you need to restore your original WORLD.VIS file and reinstall this
   scenery after removing all exclude files.
   This bug does not exist in FS5.1.
 * DYNAMIC SCENERY FILES.  This scenery includes several dynamic scenery
   files.  These have been heavily tested in both FS5.1 and FS6 with no
   problems reported.  But if you get a lockup in FS6, and suspect dynamic
   scenery is the cause, you can either remove all dynamic scenery files
   issued with this scenery, or you can deactivate dynamic scenery in both
   FS6 dynamic scenery windows 1 and 2.  This bug does not exist in FS5.1.
========================================================================
G. SCENERY COMPLEXITY and FRAME RATE
   ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^
This scenery was designed for optimised 486 DX4/100 computers as a minimum
when using FS5.1, and for optimised P100 computers as a minimum when using
FS6.  It should be noted that P133s are considered, at this time, to be
the 'entry level' computer.
For PCs with speeds less than obtainable with these class computers, frame
rates may be unacceptably low when approaching the more densely enhanced
airports.  On such computers, the first course of action might be to enter
the Options|Preferences|Display|Scenery Display Options menu (almost the
same menu path in FS6) and deactivate Ground Scenery Shadows and Textured
Water.  Entering the World|Weather menu and deactivating clouds, and maybe
haze, may also help.
If these reduced settings do not produce an acceptable frame rate, there
are two further courses of action to investigate: reduce both the static
and dynamic scenery Complexity menu setting as noted below, and/or
deactivate Textured Ground in the Scenery Display Options menu (a much
more radical step).
The following complexity menu settings apply in this scenery:
STATIC SCENERY COMPLEXITY:
  At enhanced airports  - 'Very Dense' to see all objects
  Other airports        - 'Very Sparse' or better to see the few objects
  Outside Airports      - 'Normal' or better to see all objects
At enhanced airports, most objects can be seen using 'Normal'.  A few
objects are set at 'Dense' and 'Very Dense'.  These settings were embedded
in the scenery so that, if you are experiencing frame rate difficulties at
enhanced airports, you can reduce the complexity setting progressively to
'Dense', then "Normal, and then 'Sparse', in order to increase frame rate.
DYNAMIC SCENERY COMPLEXITY:
   'Normal'     to activate a few dynamics objects
   'Dense'      to activate more dynamics objects
   'Very Dense' to activate all dynamics objects
These settings were embedded in the scenery so that you can reduce the
number of aircraft in circuits at enhanced airports, in steps, from the
number noted in NAV_QLD.TXT, to zero.  The same principle applies to parked
aircraft.  Reduction of dynamic scenery complexity will also usually
increase frame rate.
All aircraft in the circuit can be turned-off simply by unchecking the 'Air
Traffic' switch in the Dynamics Scenery Complexity menu.
parked Aircraft can be turned-off totally by unchecking the 'Aircraft
Ground Traffic' switch.  A few parked aircraft at some airports can be
turned-off by reducing static Scenery Complexity from Very Dense to Dense
or below.
