This man is a genius. The End.
No really he is, his first solo effort and one that has not yet been released in Australia. I got mine from the States as I'm a huge fan of his work. For those of you who don't know who Butch is, he was a member of 80's Hair band 'Southgang' and then went on to form 'The Marvelous 3' who had a minor hit with "Freak of the Week" in 1998. Now that you still have absolutely no idea who Butch Walker is let me continue.
As an accomplished musician, producer and engineer, Butch can do no wrong. From the get go with this CD it's a non stop roller coaster ride (I love that expression) of hits. You put it on and it stays on. The parody of music today "Rock Vocal Power" is hilarious and the boom straight into the catchiest song ever "My Way" from there the hook has you and it's a bitch of a time trying to get the bugger out.
He could basically release every song on this CD and it could be huge, he just doesn�t have the push behind him to do so, which is such a shame because the man's talents are being sorely, sorely wasted. Even though the man has produced albums for the likes of SR 71 and Bowling For Soup, surely as an artist he deserves the respect he's due. If you listen to songs like "Alicia Amnesia" about a girl in a store that every time he goes in she'd forget who he was even though she was hitting on him the day before. "If (Jeanie's song)" is the most emotional song ever about a friend's battle with cancer, and yes folks, I shed a legitimate tear. "Trouble" about his teenage pregnancy scare, it goes on and I could go on.
Why this man isn't a billionaire astounds me, but I figure if I can spread the word, someone tells someone else and they tell someone, then it may just get the Butch rolling!
Overall, it was my favourite album of 2002, I give it Infinity plus 2 which is the highest numbers can go, ask anyone!
