INTRODUCTION
    Why use this site?

This information is aimed at the typical power model aircraft club operating in the United Kingdom, although the principles are relevant for all users of R/C models powered by piston engines throughout the world.

Its purpose is to help club members and cluib committees to avoid losing their flying sites through noise complaints.

How does the site work?

The noise problem is broken down into elements which can be used to identify the priorities for your particular club, and provide effective solutions. All the recommendations are tried and tested - they work.

Noise complaints are one of the major causes of lost flying sites, and with the current sensitivity to noise amongst the general public likely to continue, model aircraft pilots need to work harder than ever to protect valuable flying sites. The information that follows provides the basis for a comprehensive strategy to avoid noise complaints.

The method is to combine a practical approach with noise measurement used as a tool. The objective is to enable model flying to continue, not to prevent it.

Disclaimer

NB. I have no financial interest in promoting the advice that follows; although I used to manufacture silencers and rubber mounting systems several years ago, I no longer do so, as the demands of a medical career tend to displace such activities !
