On a beautiful September day, many friends, with 2 legs and 4, joined together to walk and raise money so Martha can walk on her own again. Thanks to everyone's amazingly generous support, enough money was raised for Martha to attend at least another
9 months of necessary therapy training!

Martha Humes was born and raised in Michigan. She is a graduate of Eastern Michigan University and worked as a research scientist for Esperion Therapeutics until 2003 when she moved to Portland, Oregon. On the way out, she contracted West Nile Virus which resulted in complete flaccid paralysis in all four limbs. Since that time, she has worked tirelessly with physical therapists and trainers toward the goal of regaining enough strength
to walk unassisted.

As of December, 2007, Martha's physical therapy treatment sessions have been incorporated into a case study through Wayne State University under the care of Sue Harrington, PT. This move, along with your generous support, has given Martha the opportunity to continue the intense physical therapy program for at least 9 months. Please help us get Martha back on her feet.
