Built by Chantiers de Penhoet, St. Nazaire for French Line, French flag, in 1906. Named
La Provence she serviced the Le Havre - New York route. Refitted as the French Navy auxiliary cruiser Provence II in 1914 she was torpedoed in the Mediterranean by a German U-Boat in 1916. 930 were lost.
