| During one extremely boring science class I felt the need to expand my mind so I began to ponder upon the age old question: What is the meaning of life? After about three or four science classes I had come up with a few possibilities. I would have had them sooner but that guy behind the desk wouldn't stop talking. One idea I had was that the meaning of life was to create. I thought that I had the answer until I realized that with all the time that man-kind has inhabited the earth, among the billions and billions of people that have lived and died, there must be someone, somewhere that had never created something. Does that mean that they didn't really exist? But that just brings up further questions. Is existing and living the same thing? Does everyone exist but only those who create live? If they don't mean the same thing, then I belive that the true meaning of life is to create. If they do and some people can exist without living then I need a meaning of life that incompasses them as well. This brings us to my second and final theory. Another meaning of life could be to live. Thus life is simply a gift to do with as you, as an individual, chooses to do with it. My conclusion is that there is no one meaning of life to suit everyone so the true meaning of life is to live. Life is an opportunity not a goal. |
