Welcome to my little Thanksgiving spot.
I suppose you must be wondering
what it is that you will find here.
This is where you will find
the Thanksgiving things that I find interesting.
Since Thanksgiving has so many meanings,
I will also have a few things to say about
how very important this day is to me.
It seems that Thanksgiving has been reduced to nothing more than
a great feast and some football games. Don't get me wrong
I happen to love the tradition of the whole thing. But, it
seems to me, it should be so much more than it has become.
A time for the family that we love, remembering the family
members we loved that are no longer with us, for being truly
thankful for the things that we do have, and a time for
dreaming of the future that we want to share with our family.
Although things might not be exactly as we would wish them, we
can be thankful that we have as much as we do. There are so many
things to be thankful for, including the rights we have to gather
together in celebration of Thanksgiving. I love the feast,
although I skip the turkey since I'm vegitarian, on no other
day of the year can we expect to eat so well. I even enjoy
watching a football game or two. But, I always try to take some
time to appreciate the things that I have. The most important
of which is my precious family.
This Thanksgiving is going to be hard for me to get through this year.
I was raised by my grandparents, and this year my grandpa, the only
dad I ever knew, died. This has been a very difficult year as it is.
With the problems my mom and my daughter have had with their health,
losing my dad and other things. Any one of several things that have
happened this year would have been a challenge to say the least. The combination of things we have been through has been almost impossible
to deal with, some days I couldn't fully deal with it. But I still have
a lot to be thankful for. Because I still have my children and they
still have me. I refuse to let go of hope, maybe it's just my stuborn
nature but I will always remember that no matter how bad things get,
are a lot of people that have it a lot worse then we do.
