Merry Christmas
Welcome to my little page dedicated to the season. I just love this time of year. It is a little bit strange for me during this season because my birthday falls in December so this month holds a lot of different things for me. When I was a kid I hated that my birthday was this month all of the attention went towards Christmas and my birthday took a backseat. My family always gave me a great birthday anyway but it felt like it was just less somehow. Well that was when I was a kid now its just fine that it takes a backseat after all its just another day anyhow right.
Everyone has their own holiday traditions and they are all different in ways but they usually have some things in common; perhaps a tree, family, some sort of Christmas dinner, decorations, and gifts for family and friends. But what does Christmas mean to you? To me it is a time for sharing joy, but it is also more than that. It's a celebration of life. There are many ways to look at this. I could bore you with many philosophical takes on this season but I won't do that; I would probably mix them up in some way anyhow.
I love Christmas I love all of the spirit that seems to be missing the rest of the year. I love that people can seem a little bit nicer for a couple of weeks (unless you are at the mall fighting for whatever the hot toy is this year.) I love the lights and the references to peace. Not necessarily peace on earth and between nations I think we all know by now that is an impossibility and maybe that is the way it is supposed to be. It is hard enough to get two people to agree let alone six or seven billion people, whatever the population of the world is right now. No, I'm talking about a peace in your heart, one that is strong this time of year. The joy that this season brings, and a reminder that things are not as bad as they could be even if they are not as good as you would like them to be. This is just the beginning of what Christmas means to me. Whatever symbols we use in our celebration of Christmas the meaning is the same if we only remember to see that. Wouldn't it be wonderful if we could learn to carry that with us all of the time?
