| I Wear His Heart Looking back on life, He was always there. A man so full of life. A man so full of care. Looking up to him, His twinkle in my eyes. I would see myself in him, And it made me realize. I'm a part of this man, That gives me so much love. Each day that I live, Another of his goes on. For all the love he's given. For all the love he's shared. I'll keep passing it on to others, 'Cuz it's his heart I wear. I Will Be Strong You had your whole life ahead of you. You left us oh so young. We try to make sense of it. But it feels so wrong. Why someone as good as you, Had to be taken away? I know the good Lord giveth and taketh, But why with so much pain? My thoughts run of you. Tears fill within my eyes. I know you can see me, And hear my saddened cries. Daddy, I know you'd want me to be strong, And live my life in peace. Just knowing you're in heaven, And someday again we'd meet. So I will be strong for you, And live the way you'd want me to. It makes it a little easier knowing, That God is taking good care of you. My Dad As an infant, I can't remember much. But when I look at our pictures, I see the love in your touch. As a young child, I remember you there. After my baths, Brushing my long blonde hair. As a teenager, You left me explore the world. For you knew one day, I would be another's girl. As a young woman, You walked me down the aisle. Though you were hurting, You kept that smile. As a new mother, I brought light to your eyes, Everything you had done, Suddenly you knew why. As your daughter, I am so glad. That I can call you, My Dad! Hangin In There We run into many people. We know how much they care. They ask, "How ya doin?" We say, "Hangin in there." Gram & Pap are tough. You know how they are. I know they're hurting. You were their first shining star. The grandkids are fine. But they do miss their pap! Kids are amazing though. The way they bounce back. Us kids? Well.... we're doin okay. We each have our moments. But it'll get better day by day. Mom is doing well. You would be so proud. She gets all her strength, From the love she carries around. So as you can see dad, We're all hanging in there. We know we have to. Even if it feels unfair. Dear Pap... It's starting to get warm out. Time to catch them fish. I'm gonna catch me a great big one. Like the ones you always wished! ;o) I've already got the bike out. I ride it fast down my hill. The mud splashes in my face. I bet you're laughing at me still. :o) I can't wait to get to camp. So I can run all about. And Bubba and I can play till dark. You know... when those mud monsters come out! ;o) I'll miss doing all these things with you. But I know you will be near. I'll remember all the good times we had. To me they are so dear! :o) This summer will be hard without you. I'm gonna help Bubba the best I can. I want you to be proud of me. Love... just one of your biggest fans! :o) Is It You? You come to me in my dreams. They seem so real. Sometimes I get all warm inside. Is it you I feel? I wonder if you send me signs. I think you do. People would probably say I'm crazy. But I believe it's you. I look to the skies more often now. Through the days and nights. The stars remind me of you. Twinkling ever so bright. I never got to buy you that telescope, To look at the stars. But I bet you're having one heck of a view, From where you are! You cracked us up, With your witty tales. Kept us laughing, At the jokes you'd tell. We think back when, Once in a while. And just can't help, To crack a smile. So today instead of, Shedding tears. We'll think of you, And your cheers. Happy Birthday To an awesome man! It's because of you, That, smiling, we can. Poetry by ~Mikki~ |
