On the night of March 9th 2003 Placebo played the small Brighton Concorde club. This show was a warm up for the world tour. It was only the 2nd show. This was to be the first time for me to see Placebo live so I was very excited. I got to the venue at 4pm. There was only around 3 people ahead of me, We got talking to some fans and a while later we all met Steve outside. He was very polite and spoke to fans. After this they did a sound check, there was a window to the hall so a small crowd of us were able to watch the sound check.
The doors opened at around 7:45pm. I got front row and it was a bonus that you could use cameras at this show.
The support for the night were Colour Of Fire who were really good, I hadnt heard of them before but they were an amazing start to the show.
Placebo took to the stage with Bulletproof Cupid one of the new songs from the album, a cool instrumental. The lights were also fantastic for this song. Then it was Allergic before he started singing Brian bumped his chin on the mic which made a comical start to the song.
Brian was in a very good mood that night and it was such a small intimate venue that it really was a special night, the band were chatty in-between songs which made the whole show so much better.
The set-list itself was interesting with a decent mix of old and new songs. Some such as Every You, Every Me had been re-worked making it more exciting.
To round off they ended on a perfect note with the Pixies song Where Is My Mind this whole show was a real spectacular and definitely one not to be forgotten. |
