Karla's friend of the family Rick was down tonight and played the part of observer. While we ate our Chinese food, Sam and Lee played a tight game of Carcassonne.

Notes: First time playing with 4. Not really a good effort, as Karla was distracted and wanted the game to end quickly, and the food arrived near the end. As I was placing my final piece, Dan said he was going to end it on his next turn. The rules explanation to Scott felt a bit jumbled at first, as people kept coming and going (Sam and Lee arrived while we were in the beginning stages). We'll need to try it again under better circumstances.

Notes: Last game of the night, and very satisfying (for me, at least). Sam and Scott were hurting early, but Sam had some better long-term investments. Lee was the early leader, so everyone was worried about him. He tends to talk a lot of smack when he's doing well. I was trying to be quiet so no one would focus on me, and I felt I made a lot of quality purchases, generally only buying shares which would turn eventual profits or get me in the majority or minority. Karla fell off after a quick lead, and Dan was never really in it. I passed Sam (quietly...sssh!) for majority stockholder in a very big company, but Lee's persistent purchasing in Sackson (which grew to 31) cost me the victory, as he had the majority by 1 share, despite my attempts to pass him. It was cute watching Sam's face grow with worry as my money passed the $30,000 barrier, but there just weren't enough $100 bills in the stack. Curses! 2nd place (again)! This game rocks.
