There are two main kit lists for Scouting activites: hike kit lists and camping kit lists. Here they are:
Hike kit list:
1) Full uniform: shirt, trousers, Scout scarf and woggle.
2) Several t-shirts and sweatshirts.
3) One or three spare pairs of socks, in case your feet get wet and you need to change.
4) Two hats and two pairs of gloves. in case some-one else forgets theirs, or one pair gets wet.
5) Waterproofs, for obvious reasons.
6) A warm jacket.
7) No woollen or denim clothing at all. The reason for this is that, if you are wearing a woollen jumper, you'll overheat, and when you take it off, you'll get a chill. Also, if woollen or denim clothing get wet, they take ages to dry, and you could catch a cold, pnuemonia or a kidney/bladder infection.
8) Food, a drink and a plate and cutlery to eat with.
9) Energy bars and rations in case you are out on the mountains for longer thab you intended.
For overnight and weekend hikes, simply bring a sleeping bag, pillow, torch, extra clothing with you as well. Only bring a tent with you if the Leaders tell you to.
Camping kit list:
1) Full uniform: Shirt, trouser, Scout scarf and woggle.
2) Plenty of clothes: t-shirts, sweatshirts, tracksuit bottoms, combats etc. NO woollens or denims.
3) Plenty, and I do mean plenty, pairs of boxers and socks. They will get wet.
4) Sleeping bag and torch.
5) A warm jacket, hat and gloves.
6) Cutlery: plate, bowl, cup, knife, fork and spoon.
7) Marshmallows for the campfire and a metal coathanger to toast them with.
If you do not bring your full uniform with you on events, you will not be going on the event.
The only thing left to say about packing your pack for hikes and camps is that you, the Scout, must do it. There's no point in your parents doing it for you. They're not going on the activity, you are.
