2002 The Year in Review

January Hares: Burnt Ta Ta's and Free Willy
Ride Start: Santee, West Hills Park, Mast Blvd

The year started with a Mountain bike training ride. The trail consisted of a short doo loop around West Hills High, then right into Mission Trails Regional Park. In the park the pack rode up and down winding hills which became increasingly steeper until we hit one massive uphill which was so steep no one was able to ride up! The ride down was worth the uphill climb with the trail ending at a very cool little Mexican place on the outskirt of Santee.

February Hares: Fluff The Jail House Cock Boy
Ride Start: Clairemont, Balboa Ave, Island Restaurant

Just five hours prior to Superbowl kick off, a small pack of riders assembled behind the Islands Restaurant on a beautiful Sunday morning.  The hare lead the pack past Hindlick Quarter and across the 805 footbridge, then East through  Clairemont and down into Marian Bear Park.  The trail ended at the home of Hindlick for pregame Down Downs.

March Hares: Burning Bush & Flush Twice
Ride Start: Solana Beach

Some sort of Mexican baseball disrupted the start, causing us to move the start out to the street. The hares were off with Bush toting flour in a very nice Victoria Secret's bag. Thru the streets and hills of Solana Beach the trail went, East under 5, south to Via de la Valle and west around the race track to Del Mar.  Finally, we head back to Solana Beach, straight up a very steep hill ending at Don Chuy's in Fletcher Gardens (little Mexico - Solana Beach)

April Hares: Cat & Pigeon Shit
Ride Start: Chula Vista

The Trail started right in to some deep shiggy,  How did the hares find that jungle in Chula Vista?  It was cool and wet but that did not last.  Around the golf course and in to a turkey eagle split, the eagles climbed some serious hills, most of us pushing our bikes up the hills and risking our lives flying down the hills.  Several brutal hours later the Eagles crossed trail with some turkeys and continued on trail for what felt like days for this tired group.  This was the longest ride of the year at twenty miles!

May Hares: Scratch My Balls, Boys in the Bush & High & Tight
Ride Start: Pine Valley  TB:1237 C2 (Cleveland National Forest)

Bikes packed in the back of Boys in the Bush's Truck and Scratch's van packed with the riders we headed to the top of Laguna Mountain.  After a short pre-ride brief (safety lecture) We rode a loop around the top of the mountain through the campgrounds and then right down Nobel Canyon.  The weather was perfect for this ride through the forest, it was a single-track trail, mostly down hill with a number of technical challenges on trail!  Switch back paths, streams, boulders, tree roots, gravel, sand and cactus. You name the environment we rode through it.  If the hares do it again, Don't miss this ride.  Down Downs were held at the bottom on the mountain prior to eating at the local grease pit.

May Hares: Sheep Sex & Pain in the Boner
Ride Start: Spring Valley

This was a combined Hash Full moon and Hare of the Dog.  Sheep and PITB laid the Dog/Bike trail and Hands Off and Spermlock laid the Full Moon trail. Of course I did the Bike trail, it had some nice off road shiggy with a tricky doo loop around the Cross, refreshing Jell-O shooter check on trail and fabulous killer spread of artery blocking food at the end.  All this followed by one heck of a good pool party at the end.

June Hares: Ice Box
Ride Start: Encinitas TB 1147 J6

Anyone who has run the San Diego half marathon would have felt as if they were on familiar ground.  Ice Box also treated the FRB's to a view of some impressive bulls on trail.  After a pleasant ride through the country side road the trail ended at Ice Box's vineyards with enough food and drink to feed an army.

August Hares: Dildo Abuse
Ride Start: Alpine, Anderson Truck Trail

This trail is a single track "must do" trail for anyone who lives in San Diego.  Several of us almost died from heat exhaustion, because we rode on what must have been the hottest day of the year, yet is was still a lot of fun and the view of El Capitain Reservoir below us was incredible.  The ride ended back where we started with Dildo serving up his special antipasti salad.

September Hares:  Gay Boy from La Jolla & Mas Penis Por Favor
Ride Start: Pacific Beach

It was a perfect day for a ride around Mission Bay.  The hares treated us to a beer check on Mission Bay, then at the Coaster Saloon and another at the Mission Beach Jetty.  A few of us did get a bit lost when we crossed trail with an Intergalactic trail Scratchy laid (and no one ran) the previously day, but it all worked out. The trail ended at the Pennant with cheap taco's and down downs.

October Hares: Pith Me, Burnt Ta Ta's & Flaming Buttress
Ride Start: Escondido (North County Fair)

Another nice off road ride, this time around a dried up Lake Hodges, a beer check on trail and ending at Orfila Winery.  Could not ask for anything better in life.

November Hares: Boys in the Bush
Ride Start: Carmel Valley

A small group gathered in the rain for an off road adventure, and they were not disappointed.  The highlight of the trail was a waist deep river crossing.

December Hares: Contra Dick
Ride Start: Rancho Penasquitos TB 1189 C2 (Adobe Bluffs Elementary)

A really neat, well planned trail, which we will probably never be able to do again because of all the new construction in the area.  It had been raining for the past week, so the off road portion made a real muddy mess of the pack.  We ended at the home of Contra and cleaned up in the Jacuzzi.
