This is a powerful Holocaust movie set in Warsaw, Poland during World War II. At times this movie is so brutal, its almost unbearable to watch. Force yourself to watch it all the way through. Although this movie is extremely grim, sad, and sobering, I found it to be subtlely encouraging and hope inspiring.
Also, The Pianist helped me get perspective
and realize I didn't have it that bad. Even if I died from cancer I still had nothing to complain about. I had lived a blessed life in a peaceful and abundant country (USA) and I had never experienced suffering.
Another profound realization the movie
gave me is that survival boils down to surviving one moment at a time until you've made it.
An excellent film about loneliness, survival, and being stuck in a desperate situation.
"...I have to keep breathing, because tomorrow the sun will rise...who knows what the tide's going to bring in..."
