| My Dad got a computer (digital) camera (Olympus C 2040 zoom) a couple years ago or so and has gotten pretty good with it. The pictures are very clear viewed at highest resolution (1600 x 1200). The pics displayed on this site will be displayed at much lower resolutions so they will fit on the page, but are still pretty clear. |

| Mike and his dad getting some fresh air on Mike's last or second to last day in the hospital... checking out a large crane set up on a near by building for a construction project. Cool. |

I asked my Dad to take lots of pictures at Duke. I knew it would be one of the big experiences of my life and I wanted to have pics to document it, just like any other major event. I knew my memory of the time would be limited and so pics would show me things I didn't remember or help bring back memories. |

I was pleasantly surprised at how I was able to bring the MR images into the computer through my scanner. An MRI looks like an X-ray image at first glance, only smaller and more detailed. They are meant to be held against a light table or a window and let light shine through them like a slide. So it posed some challenges to render them as .jpg or .gif files, but with a little tweaking with the scanner software I got something that you can get a pretty good impression of what the actual MRI slide looked like. Thanks for joining me on my journey and thanks for the pics Dad. |
