| 15th July, 2000 Hello Michael, It's your birthday today, but it is not a "Happy Birthday". I pass you every day on my way to work, and always say "Good Morning Mike", with deep regret of what has happened to you and us, as a family. I still cannot get my head around what has happened, and every night when I put my head to my pillow, a thought of you comes to me, which makes me go into a sweat and I think "what are you doing now"; "one day I will be there" and "how would we cope if it happened to Lauren". I say this because I feel for my sister, your Mum, and your Dad and Katie, who have suffered immensely and have had to come to terms with your death at a time when it should never have been allowed. I know now that time is extremely precious, and we should never take it for granted, unfortunately your accident has made us all realise what a cruel world we all live in. Mike never a day goes by when I don't think of you, and I can also say that for the whole family, we are devastated and your birthday today and every other birthday from now on will always bring us bad memories, and not good, because of the way you have had to leave us. Some deaths, such as Grandad Lockyer, Nanny Lockyer/Peckham along with Uncle Brian although are very sad, we can celebrate their lives. where we have grown up with them, but unfortunately you Mike - well your life was just starting, I see you now playing with Lauren on our video when she was only 3 or 4 years old, and I hear you saying "can I tape WWF, and I will collect tape in the morning, which you duly did whilst you were doing your paper-round, but most of all apart from supporting the "Scousers" it was not your fault - blame your Dad, you were so proud to come round our house and show us your new m/bike, little did we know then what the unfortunate consequences would be, although as we all know the fault was not of your domain. Your Mum and Dad, and all the family, were so proud that you had got yourself a good job at Jewsons, and that you were ready to embark on going from a young lad to a grown man. Your Mum would have taken all the troubles you may or may not have brought with your girlfriend, but again not to be. We miss you very much Mike, Julie and Lauren and myself think and talk openly about you all the time, and never should anyone be shy to talk about you just because you are not physically there, because your soul and spirit will always be with us. You no doubt are aware that your Mum visits you everday, and if we could ease the pain that she has had to suffer since you have gone, we would dearly love to do that, but no words will ever be able to bring you back unfortunately. Bye for now Mike, See you soon, Terry, Julie and Lauren xxx |
