Head Coach Chuck Amato let his assistants instruct the players during the scrimmage, but stepped in on occasion to provide encouragement. By standing back and watching the scrimmage, Chuck expressed confidence in the staff by not looking over their shoulders and second-guessing every decision. However, Amato could be heard hollering at players, taking on the head coach responsibility of motivation. |

Quarterback play in the scrimmage was sensational, as Rivers and Hannum both completed nearly 80% of their pass attempts. As shown in the photo, quarterbacks coach Michael Canales has provided detailed instruction, and the improved play of Olin Hannum was remarkable. Although the shoes of Norm Chow are hard to fill, Canales has already made his mark on the program. |

Mike Canales and Todd Stroud have a discussion during the halftime break. Each of these individuals plays an important role in the future of Wolfpack football. Stroud recently turned down the job offer he most coveted, strength and conditioning coach at FSU, in order to continue building something special here at NC State. Canales, in his short tenure with the program, has developed a good rapport with coaches and players. Mike is intense during action but relaxed and joking afterwards. As evidenced by the scrimmage, the future of quarterbacks is in good hands. |
