Rivers Throws Deep
On this play, the receivers running short patterns are covered, Coach Godette has the quarterback rollout blocked, and Rivers winds up to throw deep.
Philip throws the ball 60 yards in the air, but as shown in this photo, he has to put his whole body into the throw to get it that far.
Chow has taken heavy hitters Wilson and Fisher out of the play by forcing them to cover in the left flats.

Ray Robinson Draw
Chow called this play for Robinson several times to get him into the open field. The play starts out similar to pass plays, but Rivers hands off to Ray sprinting towards the sidelines. This play seems to be a staple in Chow's book, and should be a familiar sight in the fall. It's a great example of the pass setting up the run.
The defenders are spread out, the fullback Roberts is in the right flats for blocking, and only Adrian Wilson is roaming loose 12 yards down the field.

Sanders Gets Swarmed
Jatavis Sanders is a good athlete with scrambling ability, but the strong pursuit of this defense is overpowering. He's lucky if he didn't fumble on this play.
The second string offensive line gave Sanders little time, and Jatavis struggled having to make decisions too quickly. He was frequently flushed out of the pocket, with predictable results as shown here.

Walk-ons Get Some Action
With injuries thinning the depth at quarterback and wide receiver, Lagrant Maye and Christopher Nelson got a chance show their skills during the spring scrimmage. Here Maye connects on a nice sideline throw to Nelson.
Other walk-ons seeing action this spring include Elliott London at receiver, Shaunte Southern at tailback, Sean Locklear at defensive tackle, and Chris Kelly, Adam Little and Mark Pelshak at linebacker.
